Literally betrayal is just a fucking nightmare. Cheating, lying, backstabbing—they just send you into a new, shit reality where suddenly there's no ground beneath your feet. But did you know that from a psychological standpoint, child abuse is also considered betrayal?? And that it can set you up to allow betrayals (of all kinds) into your life as an adult? That's just one of many things that mental health therapist and licensed clinical social worker Emma Bridges and I cover in this episode, along with how it affects our attachment styles, what self-limiting beliefs we create to survive it, and how we heal.
