While these strategies can increase conversions, I believe there’s a difference between persuading someone to buy and manipulating them into making a decision they may later regret. We explore three common tactics often used in launches and online marketing: the "yes ladder," using planted participants to create false social proof, and encouraging people to take on debt to buy your offer. I break down why these methods can be effective from a psychological perspective, but also why I believe they cross an ethical line. Just because a tactic increases conversions doesn't mean it's the right approach. Long-term trust is far more valuable than short-term sales.

Authentic testimonials and genuine customer experiences build credibility. Creating fake urgency or planting participants undermines your audience's trust.

Encourage customers to invest only when it's the right financial decision for them, rather than pushing them toward debt simply to increase sales.
