4 Phases of Healing a Highly Sensitive Nervous System

One of the biggest challenges in healing a sensitive nervous system is breaking the cycle of reaction. When symptoms appear, it’s easy to jump into what I like to call the “five Fs”: fighting, fixing, fearing, focusing, and getting frustrated.

Each of these responses only amplifies the discomfort, trapping you in constant symptom management.

For a long time, I thought that if I just fought hard enough or found the right fix, I’d finally be free. But trying to control every sensation kept me stuck—it actually fed the cycle instead of breaking it.

It became clear that I needed to approach my symptoms differently. That’s when the real shift happened. I learned to change my mindset to one of acceptance without expectation, which helped my nervous system naturally desensitize over time.

In this episode, I’ll explain the four phases of healing and how to navigate each of them, from the reactive stage to a place where life becomes bigger than any symptom.
