Amy Wheeler, Ph.D is the Founder of The Optimal State, a Yoga Therapy School that bridges Eastern Philosophy with Western Science with a strong emphasis on embodied mental healthcare. She served as the President of the Board of Directors to the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) and helped to develop and define standards for Ayurvedic Yoga Therapists in the National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA).
Prior to founding the Optimal State, Amy was a Professor of Kinesiology at California State University for 25 years. Her degrees include a B.A. and M.A. in Health Promotion and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology.
