At the end of 2020 we had a WORTH member come on the podcast and share how Somatic Experiencing helped her in her healing recovery. This week we have Licensed therapist Randi Gray LCP, NCC on the podcast to discuss how Somatic Experiencing and EMDR can bring your recovery to the next level.
Randi explains that Somatic Experiencing focuses on resolving fight flight and freeze responses that can sometimes can get trapped in our body during the initial traumatic experience. This type of therapy allows for the completion of those self protective responses and release that energy, helping us move forward and take us to the next level of healing.
Traumahealing.org states, "Somatic Experiencing® International is the leading authority on the SE™ method and is a major provider of training and educational programs. SE is a body-oriented therapeutic model that helps heal trauma and other stress disorders. Developed by Peter Levine, Ph.D., it is the result of the multidisciplinary study of stress physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, indigenous healing practices, and medical biophysics, with more than 45 years of successful clinical application."
