Into The Wild

52. Why Self-Care Is A Form Of Leadership with Erin Wiley

Listen Later

Hey you wild women!

Today I have someone who helps women lean in and lead with their health.

She understands that every woman is on a mission. She has a vision for her life that includes success, freedom, creativity, and adventure. She is giving 'her all'; to realize her goals and her health should be her greatest resource for achieving that purpose.

Dr. Erin Wiley knows that health is not the price you need to pay for your success. You can 'lean in' without letting yourself go.

She is a Naturopathic Doctor with over 13 years of experience coaching Toronto's top executives. She teaches women how to create a lifestyle system that generates consistent energy, supports optimal mood and performance. She knows you are bigger than burnout and you need a guide to help you compassionately uncover your potential;

Her mission is to help you see that your health is not holding you back, it is a hammer you can use to smash the glass ceiling.

Her clinical focus is on energy metabolism. She helps fight fatigue and inflammation to help you to build optimal hormonal balance and focused brainpower. She has a strong interest in integrative medicine and advanced training in environmental and functional medicine and is a graduate of the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and the University of Western Ontario.

For the past 13 years, she has been the owner of one of Toronto's leading integrative health clinics, the Integrative Health Institute.

In this episode, you will learn about:

  • Why you should measure your health the same way you measure your business
  • How processes are critical to efficiency in your business
  • How shame plays a role in women's lives, health, and businesses
  • Always be asking why from yourself but also the systems and people around you
  • Why healthcare is a form of leadership
  • When we start to see self-care as a mindset, and self-care as a form of leadership, we lead with example, and women all around us rise up
  • Wellness in the workplace has to come from the leadership or it won't be adopted by the rest of the team
  • When you have better self-care and wellness practices, you have more energy, better decision-making power, and can avoid burnout
  • We are taught that self-care is a luxury but the culture needs to shift so that we all understand that it is a necessity for everyone
  • Healthcare and self-care should not be in conflict with your daily work habits
  • Screen time should be considered entertainment and not relaxation
  • You know your numbers and set goals for your business, you should know your numbers and set goals for your health as well
  • We need to start treating our health proactively and not just reactively
  • Top 3 tips to sustaining energy all day long
  • How our attitudes towards sleep help us sustain energy throughout the day

What it means to be a WILD woman:

"Being a wild woman means not asking for permission and knowing that you don't need permission in the first place. It means leading from the heart. Feeling confident to take those big leaps into the unknown and connecting with your spirit and knowing who you are. It means living in harmony with nature and your beautiful body, mind, and spirit." - Erin Wiley
