Hard to believe but some people think I can be a little.. er, ‘tough love-ish’. Seems unfair. And by unfair, I mean accurate. So, what is tough love? When and how should it be dispensed? If at all? Does it work for everyone? Can we be compassionate and tough? Is it tough love if it’s truth? What’s the downside of constantly telling people what they want to hear? Making them feel good at all costs? Avoiding hard conversations? Giving people a trophy every time they do something positive? At what point does a cheer squad become an unhealthy addiction? And what about tough love for ourselves? Is that simply self-loathing or perhaps something healthier, like self-awareness and humility? Enjoy.
