Excuses are dangerous.
They can quickly become a habit that causes disbelief and distrust, among others and ourselves questioning our reliability and character.
The sooner we commit to not choosing excuses and acting maturely, the sooner we can improve our planning, address the situation, and be honest about that is happening and what needs to improve.
We have more power and control over our situations than we think, but we have to first start by making better choices - to prepare, and be honest.

Just because something seems complex, confusing, overwhelming, difficult, or involved does not make it better. Simple can be better and should be our goal.
As Albert Einstein said, "if you can't explain it simple, you don't understand it well enough."
We need to keep the main thing the main thing, as Stephen Covey says in his book, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (linked below).
Don't get tricked into trying to do everything and it needing to be stressful and overwhelming all the time. Do what you are meant to well, and keep it simple - for everyone's sake.
