  • AP 412: How do you become passionate about family history? || with Melanie Gardner

Melanie is a Progressor, a community member just like you, who has a passion that I, admittedly, do not share. She is deeply knowledgeable about family history. With her competitive drive kicking in, and on somewhat of a challenge, she began to work on digitizing historical records. The connection, and the spark, that she felt from the names and information of these people is what keeps her going today.

You do not have to be a professional genealogist to do this, Melanie maintains that she is nothing but just interested in learning and sharing the stories of her ancestors. Her message is that family history can work for you, there are so many little things that you can do that matter when it comes to connecting to your history. If this isn't something you had considered before, or is something you are intimidated to begin, consider the fulfillment you may find from piecing together your past.

  • AP 411: Tips to Navigate Relationships After You've Changed || with Sally Osborne

Today I invited my old friend on the show, Sally Osborne. Sally will share a little about her own story of making significant changes as an adult, and a LOT on how you can navigate the most important relationships you have even after you’ve changed.

Even if your story doesn’t mirror Sally’s, the lessons she’s gleaned from her own is powerful for all of us, whether you’re the loved one who has changed, or the one trying to show up better for someone who has. I’ve always been proud of how open this community is to learning from other people’s stories, and I know both Sal’s story and her wisdom will help you and those you love.

  • AP 410: 2 Quick Tricks to Get to Bed Earlier || Growth Spurt

It's no secret that I love habits and routines, because I've seen how women can really start to thrive once they support themselves with those things. In the past I've talk about how mornings start the night before, and the importance of a solid nighttime routine. Today we're breaking it down even simpler with my top two tricks to get to bed earlier.

This bite-sized episode was inspired by my own struggles, because I was sticking to my nighttime routine...just later, and later. So, I buckled down to beat the bedtime procrastination and now I'm sharing these super practical things you can start doing tonight!

  • AP 409: 4 Keys to a Supported (+ Awesome!) Summer

I'm coming to you live from day two of summer break in this episode where I want to get real about navigating this time of year so you can have fun and feel like your best self. But first, this is not an episode about 100 awesome things to do with your kids over the next 2 months (although I have some help for that here!) These are my 4 keys to helping you feel supported throughout this season, so you can be awesome with your family and for yourself.

During the summer you are managing a lot more, you're managing more needs, you're managing more interruptions, and you are managing less routines. I will show you that by prioritizing your self in some ways, you will feel more successful in providing care to those around you. And I'm keeping this really simple with 4 straightforward tips that you can start working on right away to enjoy this summer instead of just surviving it.

  • AP 408: Go On A Meditation Walk || Growth Spurt

Wait! Before you think this episode is not for you, let me explain the simple "how" (and why) I meditate almost every single day. If you've been part of this community for even a short while, you've likely seen me share my daily walk or hike. In this episode I'm diving into that special part of my daily routine, so you can see how to simply start a meditative walk for yourself.

This practice has allowed me to process some really difficult things, and just give me clear time and space to think. With the chaos of external influence and business of our responsibilities, taking the time to yourself in some introspective way can be truly beneficial.

  • AP 407: You Need to Have More Fun (+ HOW!) || with Catherine Price

If you had an hour totally to yourself, what would you do? Author Catherine Price explains in today's interview that when faced with that exact situation she found herself signing up for a guitar class. That choice spiraled into what she now knows as true fun.

When was the last time that you had fun? Maybe you're wondering what fun even is. Catherine compiled her research into her book "The Power of Fun," which she shares about in this episode along with some powerful personal anecdotes.

By taking care of ourselves in this way and giving ourselves the opportunity to let go and have fun, it makes us better at our responsibilities. If you are capable of having fun then you bring it to other people, and it’s a gift to give others that comfort, joy, and lightness. It's time to take having fun more seriously and see how rewarding that can be.

  • AP 406: Backyard Updates, Our Short Lived Camping Trip, Summer DSL Goals, Plans to Travel Abroad || Messy Middle June 2022

In this monthly series I'm sharing what real progress (including real, imperfect, messiness!) looks like for me. May was a whirlwind, and I'm feeling extra grateful for the "highs" and less focused on any so-called "lows." Our attempt at a camping trip is particularly amusing, and a true glimpse at doing something instead of only all-or-nothing.

Tune in to hear what I have planned for this month, including the things I want to cross off my Do Something List and the important habit I have been able to establish to help my daughter. I am also throwing out a pretty big dream right now to travel abroad as a family. I hope these episodes encourage you to pursue your life more messily, and to find purpose and fulfillment in the realness.

  • AP 405: "How can I reliably carry out tasks when I feel stuck with overwhelm?" || Coaching Call with Sarah

“I never thought I could make space for something that is fulfilling, but can also be stressful and uncomfortable.” That is just one of the a-ha moments Sarah uncovered in today's coaching call. Many of you will relate to some aspect of her life, whether it's her season of motherhood, balancing full time work, or her grapple with perfectionism and fulfillment.

Sarah's initial concern is how to reliably carry out her tasks when she feels stuck with overwhelm, but as we dig deeper we uncover all of the things at play in this struggle. As I guide Sarah to look at the practical, as well as deep, changes she can start to make, you can apply the same to your circumstances.

From this episode you can take away the permission to be human and do things imperfectly. Plus, create a practical habit that will help you refocus in those moments of overwhelm that we all experience.

  • AP 404: How do you get into gardening with no prior experience? || with Nicole Williams

Listen to Nicole, a community member just like you, who is a mother and dietitian with lots of fun hobbies. She had no prior experience with gardening, but grew her passion from a desire to give it a try. From a few chickens and too many pepper plants, hear how Nicole and her family are essentially running a suburban homestead through "structure in the madness."

If gardening has been a specific item on your Do Something List, then this episode should give you a lot of ideas to just get started! And if gardening is still not for you, feel inspired by the story of someone who started small and found something they're successful with, despite ups and downs along the way.

  • AP 403: Self-Care to Support Yourself When You Don't Feel Like Yourself || with Mia Hemstad

Have you ever found yourself in the position of feeling complete overwhelm, maybe even anxiety or depression, knowing you desperately need to take care of yourself but are simultaneously unable to? Whether it's the small things like eating, or showering, to the big things like enjoying a creative hobby, we sometimes forget to support ourselves in those ways when we need it the most.

Mia Hemstad is a mother of two and a self-care coach, who has dealt personally and professionally with severe depression and PTSD. She shares one of the scariest moments she realized how lacking her self-care had become, and it may be all too relatable to some listeners. Tune in for a very real examination of why you're prone to neglecting yourself and how to change that in ways that actually matter.
