282. A Conversation About Time Bending, Loving the Game, and 1-1 Client Creation

In this episode, I explore the concept of "time bending" as the essence of one-on-one client work—helping clients collapse the time between where they are and the results they want, while also slowing down time to experience the magic and presence of everyday life. I reflect on how doing the dishes and staying grounded when my daughter spills a drink are microcosms of the inner work that makes me a more present, unshakeable coach, and I argue that one-on-one coaching isn't dying—it's transforming into something more rooted in integrity and resonance. I also share lessons from a losing soccer season coaching my daughter's team, drawing a parallel between loving the game for its own sake and building a sustainable, magnetic business.

I also get into the words we use — coaching, mentorship, guiding, witnessing — and why I'm officially renaming my coaching practice to a "one-on-one practice" because that language finally feels like integrity to me.

I share personal stories from my own burnout in the helping profession, my journey through past coaching investments that didn't resonate, and the clarity I found after a dark Reddit rabbit hole that almost made me question everything. In this episode, I'm sharing something I've been contemplating for a long time — a concept I call Money Karma - the idea that your relationship with money is something you're meant to transmute and transform in this lifetime, not just for wealth but for a higher purpose. It grew out of conversations with my private clients, where I kept noticing that the energy and intention we bring to money shapes what comes back to us. I share the story of standing in a Grocery Outlet line, fumbling through credit cards while my baby sat in the cart, and how that moment of shame became the catalyst for my entire money journey. I talk about how cleaning up your own money karma can elevate not just your finances but your family, your community, and the world.

I connect ideas from David Whyte's Consolations ("harvesting presence"), Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth, and a quote from Alex Hormozi: "People who love walking will walk further than the people who only love the destination." In this episode, I share what I mean by “energetic containers” in coaching and relationships, starting with a story from my indoor soccer doubleheader where I asked a strong teammate to coach me, stayed receptive to her feedback, and scored the winning goal. That moment helped me clarify how powerful containers combine discernment with coachability—without giving up sovereignty—and why I’m wary of online dynamics like hierarchy, pedestals, and coach worship. I talk about filtering content and mentorship by what’s useful and relevant for your season, the value of experimenting, and how clear structure (like riverbanks) can create safety while still allowing flow. I also explain why witnessing and two-way support matter to me, and why I aim for interdependence—not dependence, codependence, or isolated independence—in coaching, business, parenting, and life.
