When she clinched Best Actress after breaking a 20-year losing streak at Hong Kong Film Awards on Sunday, a teary Sammi Cheng had many people to thank. 

But one name appeared to be missing from her acceptance speech — her husband's. 

Andy Hui, 55, did not attend the awards ceremony. Coupled with Sammi's speech, some started to wonder about their relationship. 

But the singer-actress, 50, soon put those worries to rest, and revealed in a backstage interview the reason for not thanking her husband of 10 years when she was on stage. 

"He has always been supporting me by my side. I will thank him personally when I get back home! He should be watching television now," Sammi said.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream. It’s a cute saying, but it’s ringing a little too true for BMW MINI. 

At the Shanghai Auto Show, the brand held an ice cream giveaway and their supply for the public was quickly exhausted. While this isn’t surprising, video of a ‘foreigner’ getting ice cream after Chinese citizens were turned away has sparked outrage. 

A source said the company planned to give out 300 servings of ice cream to visitors, but some servings were apparently held back for employees and the ‘foreigner’ in the video reportedly worked for BMW. The situation is far from shocking, but the optics were bad and the company had no idea they were about to enrage millions of people.

BMW skids into ice cream prang at Shanghai auto show

Chinese internet users slated German automaker BMW on Thursday, accusing it of discrimination at the Shanghai auto show amid claims workers at its Mini booth favoured foreign over domestic visitors during an ice cream giveaway promotion. 

One video showed two workers telling some local visitors to the stand that the free ice cream had run out, but then later offering a tub to a Western attendee.

Rebecca Winchester, a spokeswoman for the Memphis Zoo, said the panda had a genetic condition that affected her immune system and made her fur look patchy. And at 190 pounds, she said, Ya Ya is naturally on the smaller side. 

When Ya Ya paces in her enclosure — another detail that alarmed people on social media — she is likely exhibiting the hormonal influence of estrus, which female pandas undergo once a year, Ms. Winchester said. 

“It is heartbreaking to have an entire narrative out there,” Ms. Winchester said when asked about the criticism. “First of all it is hard to control. You don’t speak the same language, and it is not easy to travel to Memphis and see her with their eyes.”.
