A lot has been happening in our corner of the world this week, so we spend a good amount of time catching up. Ceara got to see her family out in South Carolina and have some quality sibling time. Allison was busy at the shop with Black Friday, is having *another* existential crisis, and is inviting some new perspectives in. 

We got the idea for this episode from The Aubrey Marcus Podcast # 317 ‘Secrets of Taoism and The Rebel Monk’ where they discussed a piece of literature. Is anyone else exhausted from having the same light-hearted easy conversations all the time? We are joined by Ceara’s older brother, Brady Kirkpatrick. Brady is a Certified Financial Planner and shares all kinds of valuable money advice with us in a fun, casual way. We know learning more about finances can be really overwhelming so we wanted to have someone on the podcast who is very personal, young, and makes the information digestible.

There can be a lot of negative thoughts around money but once you let go of that fear, you will find that financial freedom is much more attainable. A quote that really resonates with us is, “live poor now so that you can live rich later.” So much of today’s culture encourages impulse shopping, overspending, and not planning for the future. Budgeting, sacrifices, and resisting temptation aren’t really shown on Instagram but we’re here to break down that wall.

Brady’s last takeaways are - it’s never too late to get started, create a plan that works with your value system, stick with it, review your finances regularly and live by the 50/30/20 rule.
