Stories follow questions. A popular question that drives many stories goes, “what happens next?” But no matter what question you ask at the beginning of your story, the reader (and you) will follow that question all the way until it gets an answer (questions are powerful motivators—your brain literally won’t give up until it gets to the conclusion!)
