Observing your thoughts is such an important part of the process of change. If you've been listening to the podcast for a while, you have heard me say many times that awareness is the first step of change, and “becoming the observer” is a good way to become aware. There is a lot that goes on inside your body that you aren’t aware of.
Here are some takeaways from this episode:
Having experiences where it feels like you are at the mercy of something outside of yourself that just compels you to eat, but you really aren't even sure of what is happening in your mind and body is normal. When this happens you are on autopilot. You are pretty much at the effect of whatever is going on, without even realizing it.
Notice your patterns. Start to get curious about what is happening in your body when you notice that compulsive desire to eat a lot of food in a short period of time. Analyze personal observations of your own thoughts, feelings, and behavior.
As you start to become more aware of what is happening to you in the moments of eating, it's important not to judge yourself. Remember, shame and judgment are the main reason why people binge and what will keep you stuck.
If you want to get answers to “Why do I binge?” and other key questions, take this quiz and get the answers and 3 steps you can take right away to begin to change. Thank you for listening to The Binge Breakthrough Podcast – your personal guide to breaking through the barriers that keep you stuck in the cycle of binge eating, compulsive overeating, or emotional eating.
