Michelle Tollefson, MD, DipABLM is an obstetrician-gynecologist, women’s health lifestyle medicine expert, and wellness coach. She is the Secretary of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, a professor at Metropolitan State University of Denver, author of multiple books, international speaker, consultant, and breast cancer survivor. Dr. Tollefson is known for inspiring others and giving them practical tools to flourish (mind, body, and spirit). Her passion for teaching people about lifestyle medicine to address chronic disease and thrive, is evident in her inspiring presentations. She enjoys spending time in the beautiful Costa Rican blue zone interacting with community members and exploring Costa Rica’s rich animal and plant diversity.
The blue zones are the 5 regions with a high percentage of people living healthy, very long lives. Although these regions are located around the globe, there are similar themes repeatedly seen among the people living the longest and healthiest in these areas. This presentation will give you practical suggestions on how you can take the lessons learned from the blue zones and translate them into practical changes. Small environmental and behavioral changes can significantly improve your health and the health of those you love. Costa Rica’s blue zone on the Nicoyan Peninsula will be featured and Dr. Tollefson will share what she has learned from her travels in the blue zone. At the end, Dr. Tollefson will briefly discuss an upcoming experiential and educational trip to the Costa Rican blue zone.
