Jean is the Alfred North Whitehead Professor of African and African American Studies and Anthropology at Harvard University. Jean’s research is primarily conducted in southern Africa, and centers on social and cultural transformation processes. Whether she is studying the nature of postcolonial economies or viewing the late modern world from the perspective of the Global South, Jean is on a mission to understand our world better – and all those who inhabit it.
