The words, tone, and facial expressions used by professionals has a significant impact on whether we feel supported and understood or dismissed and even shamed.
I’ve heard many stories over the years and have even had my own experiences that left me wondering about the person’s intention.. and judgment.
In today’s video I’ll share one of those experiences and address some of the issues around this.
Together, we can foster empathy, raise awareness, and create an environment that makes trauma survivors feel safe and understood.

In today’s episode, I share my thoughts on when a trauma therapist may be necessary and when it’s not. For example, times when a trauma-informed therapist or a general life coach may be most beneficial.

Have you been seeing the term "trauma informed" and wonder what it actually means?
In this episode, I share what it means to be trauma informed (hint... there is no standard for the term) and if it is sufficient for helping people heal trauma. Particularly prolonged, interpersonal, and/or childhood trauma.
This is for those searching for someone to help them heal and those who may desire to become "trauma informed" to help others heal.

Childhood trauma can have a lasting impact on our lives, affecting our self-worth, relationships, and overall well-being. It can lead to shame and a deep sense of not being enough.
Healing is a process of many practices practiced over time.
Self-compassion is a vital component of this process and practice, offering a gentle and important way to address the wounding and foster deep core healing.
In today’s video, I’ll walk you through one of the practices in Deeply Rooted, my book which focuses on cultivating self-compassion, self-acceptance & healing.
Together, let's foster a world where self-compassion flourishes, and healing becomes more accessible for everyone. Together we heal. ❤️

In today’s episode, we’ll dive deep into the layers of responsibility that childhood trauma survivors carry, extending far beyond the initial abuse or trauma. From personal relationships to professional endeavors, survivors often assume responsibility for various aspects of their lives, perpetuating a cycle of unworthiness and fear.
I’ll share how the need for control and understanding of traumatic experiences leads children to believe that they are at fault. This distorted self-perception becomes entangled with their sense of responsibility, creating a heavy burden that lingers long into adulthood.
Join us as we explore the deep-rooted coping mechanisms and beliefs that keep survivors trapped in self-blame, and discover the path to healing and letting go.

In today’s episode, I respond to a community member’s question about the self-blame that arises through the grooming process.
I address the erroneous idea that survivors bear any responsibility for the acts perpetrated against them.
Throughout this episode, I explain the different ways a perpetrator manipulates a victim into thinking that she/he is also a participant thus making the victim feel shame.
Let's continue these courageous conversations to end the stigma and culture of victim-blaming. Together we heal. ❤️

In today’s episode, I answer a question from the community about the impact of sexual abuse as it relates to the relationship with the abuser. I share my thoughts on the harmful message that the listener’s wounding shouldn't be as significant as some other people’s. As a survivor, remember that the long-term impact of sexual trauma is often very similar regardless of who the perpetrator is.
As is the case with most things related to impact and healing from childhood trauma, this issue is complex. I’ve recorded a second part to dive a bit deeper into how the relationship with your abuser can create additional layers to healing.
This episode provides valuable insights into the long-term impact of childhood sexual trauma and offers hope for survivors on their healing journey.

Shame can be an incredibly difficult thing to talk about. Unfortunately, it’s something we, as survivors, experience so deeply and the impact is far reaching.
In today’s episode, I talk about a source of shame that is rarely talked about. Though it is incredibly common and important to address on this healing journey.
I also share a bit of my own story and how we can release this shame.
Remember, you are not alone, and together we heal. ❤️
