The Taiwan Affairs Office of China's
State Council said this week that continuous efforts were ongoing to facilitate
young people from Taiwan to realize their education and career dreams on the
mainland.
This year, another 20 mainland
universities are set to begin accepting applications from Taiwan students,
making the number 336 in total.
Meantime, Fujian Province is prepared for
supplying electricity and water to the Kinmen and Matsu islands.
All this came after a key policy speech
by President Xi Jinping this year to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the
Chinese mainland's Message to Compatriots in Taiwan.
In the speech, Xi Jinping proposed that
the mainland and Taiwan conduct democratic consultation on Cross-Strait
relations and the future of the nation.
He also said the principles of
"peaceful reunification" and "one country, two systems" are
the best approach to realizing national reunification.

details on Cross-Strait relations.
