Oh That's Deep: Black Women Conversations

Date Who You Want to Date

Listen Later

Nicole is back! And in our opening chatter we talk about how our week has been. What’s on Our Timeline? Is a post on DL Hughley’s IG from a prejudiced right wing post that asks if white men are the biggest threat to America why are there so many prominent black women dating them? Let’s Talk Through It Our first friend has a friend that is now a widow due to the passing of our husband of 12 years. She met him after a string of really abusive relationships with black men. Then she met her husband who was Caucasian and treated her like a queen. Now she feels she’s ready to date. So she attempted to hook her up with a really nice coworker of hers. He's tall, dark and handsome and well-established. So she set them up on a kind of blind date with him knowing what she looked like, but didn't show her any pictures. They met up for lunch and seemed to have a lot of fun based on the feedback from both of them. However, her friend said she couldn't date him because she can't bring herself to date black men because of past trauma. She wants our opinion on how she can help her friend deal with her emotional trauma and learn that all black men aren't bad? Our other friend says her twin sister and her are best friends, but they are actually quite different. Her sister is still dating, and she is married with two children. Her sister has always just dated and never really settled down or brought anyone home. Their father passed away last summer and shortly after his death, her sister introduced the family to her boyfriend, in quotation marks, who happens to be white. At Thanksgiving, they found out that her sister has been dating him for years. She feels like if their father wouldn't have approved of it, then maybe they shouldn't be together and asks how can she tell her twin sister that she needs to leave him alone and be with a man who is more equally yoked and wants to know what would we do? Until we meet again. Pray! Work! Slay! And Show Off Your Melanated Excellence!
