Fear is a great motivator, but it doesn't always get us moving in the right direction. Many people panic when the market goes down and pull out of their investments. But when you're strategic about how you plan for your future you reduce your stress knowing you can weather these ups and downs and that you're on track to reach your goals, regardless of what the market may do in any given month or year. My guest today is Chris Tresse, a principal with Bernstein, the global money management firm with offices in 25 countries. He's been in the business of managing investment portfolios for high net worth families and charitable foundations for more 20 years, is Chair of the Rady Children's Hospital Foundation Board and is a member of their investment committee that oversees a $1.5B endowment.

Stress has never been higher for people. The pandemic. Social isolation. Economic uncertainty. Our highly charged politics. So what are folks doing to pass the time and soothe their anxiety? Stress eating. Often this means turning to sweets like ice cream, cookies, or cake. Or grabbing a zero-calorie soda. If you think artificial sweeteners will give you that sweet treat but still keep you safe, think again. While they've been heavily marketed to help protect against diabetes, obesity, and poor health, the research tells a different story. These zero-calorie sweeteners can actually expand your waistline and increase your risk for diabetes.
