Dr. Teddy Willsey on Bridging the Gap from Rehab to Performance

Listen Later

Ever since he was young, Dr. Teddy Willsey had always been interested in bodybuilding and science.
This interest led him to the University of Pittsburgh’s Exercise Science program, and later to the Old Dominion University, where he completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.
In 2016, Teddy pushed his passions further and founded Healthy Baller Therapy, where he is also the Director of Sports Medicine. In addition to clinical work, Teddy is a writer who consults, teaches, and speaks worldwide.
Teddy joins me today to share his journey in physical therapy and strength & conditioning and discuss bridging the gap between rehab and performance.
He reveals a key area where physical therapists and strength and conditioning coaches can improve, and explains why there should be more emphasis on sports-specific rehab.
He also illustrates how he qualitatively and quantitatively measures for risk injury and return to play and defines the meaning of the internal feedback mechanism.
