In this Episode I share with you some of my biggest dyslexia mistakes. Some of these are dyslexia fail whoppers.

As you know, I am passionate about talking about dyslexia differently and part of that is talking about the reality of dyslexia. And what coould be more reality than 'Dysleixa Fails'.

It's okay to talk about dyslexia fails. Lets face it, it happens to us all and talking about it helps to better understand dyslexia, and... also just have a laugh about it. 

We're not defined by our mistakes, we cannot let these dyslexia life mishapes define who we are.

Episode 4 - Understanding What is Dyslexia

If we better understand dyslexia better we can work out better systems to support us. 

The more we understand dyslexia, it does two things:

• We understand better systems to support us, and
• We can better accept the challenges of dyslexia.

Talking to other people with dyslexia and understanding the reality of dyslexia, with the broader range of challenges beyond under spelling and reading, helps to feel less isolated and alone.

When you know that you're not the only one experiencing these broad range of challenges, they seem more manageable.

Epiosde 3 - Dyslexia and Feeling Tired

Do you take breaks?

The challenges for adults with dyslexia go far beyond spelling and reading which is what dyslexia is most commonly known for.

At Dyslexia in Adults, we are determined to talk about the reality of being an adult with dyslexia, which includes addressing all of the challenges that comes with it and addressing what support is really needed.

Something that is not often discussed is how dyslexia affects energy levels and feeling tired.

In this episode, I explain why adults with dyslexia are more prone to feeling tired and why taking breaks is essential.

Episode 2 - Dyslexia in Adults, The Strengths

I don't like to refer to dyslexia as a "Superpower".

I feel that terming dyslexia as a "Superpower" alienates people, I think it sets the bar too high, and I don't believe it truly highlights the reality of dyslexia in adults. 

I like to look at dyslexia strengths alongside the challenges and weaknesses. This is important as I believe it helps to recognise that the challenges and our strengths go hand-in-hand.

Episode 1 - Dyslexia, A Little About Me

Welcome to the Dyslexia in Adults Podcast! 

I feel like the topic of dyslexia, specifically in adults, has been forgotten and I intend to fill that need to support fellow dyslexics to navigate life with Dyslexia in adulthood. 

I started Dyslexia in Adults out of frustration. When I needed information on how to deal with adult issues as someone with dyslexia, there was only information on dyslexia in children. The subject of dyslexia in adults seemed to be something that was given a cursory glance, never the main topic.

In this first episode, I want to tell you a little bit about me; when I was diagnosed with dyslexia and the challenges that I faced and how the support during childhood gave me the resiliance in adulthood to find my strengths and sucess because of Dyslexia.

In this episode I also share what led me to start Dyslexia in Adults.

I share my life with dyslexia through 4 short stories which I know alot of people will be able to relate to.

Episode 0 - Dyslexia in Adults Trailer.

Welcome to the Dyslexia in Adults podcast.

I'm Natalie, the Founder of Dyslexia in Adults, and I am incredibly passionate about talking specifically about adult dyslexia.

It frustrates me so much when people talk about child dyslexia with only a cursory mention of adult dyslexia.

When you think about it, there are more adults with dyslexia as nearly seventy percent of the worlds population are over the age of eighteen! There is also a wave of adults being diagnosed with dyslexia later in life, with little or no information about how to navigate the challenges that are specific to adults with dyslexia.

It also doesn’t help those people who want to help adults with dyslexia; line managers, work colleagues, friends, family, if the only information available is that to support children as opposed to what it means to have and support dyslexia in adulthood.

I have rolled up my sleeves, and I am determined to create a space where we only talk about adult dyslexia. It's not part of the conversation, it is the conversation.
