Today we are joined by Sergio Hernandez. Sergio is a black belt under Baret Yoshida in beautiful sunny San Diego. Sergio is currently a full-time tattooer and owns a tattoo shop. In the jiu-jitsu community, Sergio is known for the innovative guard he created called Sergio Guard and his incredible flexibility.

In our conversation, we discuss Sergio's journey, training for longevity, training in the gi and no-gi, the relation between tattooing and BJJ, and much more.

Sergio is an incredible person to converse with. When talking with us, he would often pause and think before giving an answer he didn't fully believe in each word. Even at times, you can see and hear the carefulness in his answers. Sergio is down to earth and inspiring for anyone who wants to continue to train and compete into their 40s.

Laurenz is currently a purple belt and the creative director for Hyperfly. He has been doing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 2009. Laurenz's parents started Hyperfly after putting him and his brother in BJJ to keep them busy.

Laurenz is very open and honest about his journey in jiu-jitsu. Working in the industry and being a practitioner has made him look at training differently than most. Haisam's journey in jiu-jitsu has been anything but easy. Haisam is Ghana-born BJJ black belt out of Assembly Jiu-Jitsu in Detroit, Michigan. After leaving Ghana at 15 years old to live with his dad in Japan, Haisam found BJJ and never looked back. Haisam recently gained massive attention after submitting Roberto "Cyborg" Abreu in 1:14 at ADCC.

Haisam realized his potential in jiu-jitsu when he was a purple belt and decided to take the leap and change schools to Carpe Diem in Toyko, Japan. In this episode, we discuss his performance and ADCC, submitting Cyborg, how he prepares for competition, training as a big guy, combat sports in Africa, and much more.

Michael Currier is a BJJ black belt and Army vet and owns Impact Jiu-Jitsu Fountain Hills amounts many other things.

Michael was active in numerous sports, from wrestling to skateboarding. He has a natural desire to compete and push his limits. He contributes much of his success in BJJ, contrary to what many think of gymnastics and not so much his wrestling. Michael was offered to do gymnastics at Penn State but decided to join the Army instead.

Michael is very forthcoming about growing up poor and the failures in his life that have shaped him into the person he is today. Mike mentions that people should not be afraid of failures. Everyone fails. Everyone loses. What matters is how you overcome those adversities.

Today we have the great pleasure of having a conversation with Aaron Jannetti. Aaron is a BJJ brown belt, Co-owner of Endeavor Defense & Fitness, and the creator of Kife Control Concepts.

Aaron has a view of self-defense that not many others have. He wants to ensure that people know there is more to self-dense training outside of BJJ.

During our interview, Aaron constantly prefaces his answers by differentiating between self-defense and jiu-jitsu. Aaron's unfiltered approach to how we must be able to defend ourselves by staying in shape and continuously training is something many people might not hear.
