Ep 378 – Smart Phone, Dumb Biomechanics with David Lesondak

Listen Later

With the widespread use of smartphones, many people spend extended periods looking down at their screens. How does prolonged forward neck tilt associated with smartphone use contribute to issues like “tech neck?” In this episode of The ABMP Podcast, Kristin and Darren speak with David Lesondak about how smartphones affect the biomechanics of neck tilt, possible age-related factors, and ergonomic considerations people can take to avoid excessive smartphone-related neck tilt.

David Lesondak, BCSI, ATSI, FST, VMT, FFT, IAHE, is a member of the Allied Health Professional Staff in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). He is a board-certified Structural Integrator, visceral manipulator, fascial fitness trainer, and more.

The success of his first book, Fascia: What It Is and Why It Matters (available in nine languages), led to contributing a chapter to an orthopedic textbook, which resulted in his being asked to architect and edit the first-ever textbook designed for the medical and health-care field—Fascia, Function, and Medical Applications.

He is host of the podcast BodyTalk with David Lesondak, which has listeners in 36 countries.
