I recently came across an encouraging statistic revealing that world wide literacy is at an all time high. I’m an avid reader and come from a family of readers and  I credit reading as one of the habits that’s helped me most in life.

Moments after reading this statistic I was shocked to read that last year, 80% of American families did not buy a book (sadly I would think these statistic might be similar around the world).

It got me wondering…how much of a difference is there between not being able to read and choosing NOT to read?
