My guest is Michele Gray Oelking. Michele is a certified coach with a masters in social work, and a 25-year veteran in leadership as well as a trauma-responsive consultant whose career has been dedicated to the intersection of neurodiversity and trauma.

Michele has worked as a professional coach with an ADHD speciality since 2008, became credentialed by the International Coach Federation (ICF) with an ADHD specialty in 2014, and has scaled foundational, evidence-based coaching programs for organizations and universities long before it was a widespread practice.

This deep, longitudinal experience, built upon her formal social work education and thousands of client hours, informs her direct challenge to the efficacy of traditional, "top-down" cognitive models for ADHD.

She posits that for this population—who can present as "masters of masking" while managing the debilitating "go, go, crash" cycle (anxiety-fueled productivity and crashing exhaustion)—the primary barrier is not a 'cognitive' deficit but a somatic one: a nervous system stuck in chronic dysregulation.

In the past, Michele has presented her work numerous times at CHADD and lead webinars for ADDitude.
