    Episode Summary

Pricing questions come up constantly for solo estheticians, especially in January. In this episode, Allyson breaks down why slow bookings, hesitation around prices, and client pushback usually have less to do with what you charge and more to do with how you talk about it.

This episode dives into pricing confidence, value communication, common confidence leaks, and tangible steps you can take right now to feel grounded and solid when stating your prices without apologizing or spiraling.

    • Fear of rejection

    • Comparison to other providers

    • Internal panic around money

    • Assuming hesitation means “too expensive”

Clients don’t buy based on your fear.
They buy based on clarity, confidence, and outcome.

When a client hesitates, it does not automatically mean your price is too high.

    More often, it means:

    • The value wasn’t clearly communicated

    • The outcome wasn’t explained

    • There was no roadmap beyond today

These often happen without realizing it:

    • Talking faster when stating prices

    • Saying “totally fine if not” or “no pressure”

    • Offering discounts before being asked

    • Over-explaining to justify the price

    • Avoiding recommending what’s best because of cost

Clients feel uncertainty before they hear it.

    Expensive feels like:

    • A number with no context

    • No explanation of results

    • No plan or follow-up

    Supported pricing feels like:

    • Clear expectations

    • Education + reasoning

    • A plan beyond today

    People don’t mind paying more.
    They mind feeling confused.

    • Clients are resetting routines

    • Gift cards are still circulating

    • People are choosing who they’ll stick with this year

    Discounting teaches clients:

    • Your prices are flexible under pressure

    • Waiting gets rewarded

    • Confidence is conditional

    Education > discounts
    Clarity > panic

    Confidence comes from certainty.

    • Average ticket

    • Desired income

    • Weekly client capacity

    • Required spend per client

    Gaps in numbers create fear.

    Examples:

    • No apologizing for prices

    • No discounting unless asked

    • Always recommending what’s best, not cheapest

    You don’t control someone’s wallet.
    You control your recommendation.

    • In the mirror

    • In the car

    • With a friend

Your nervous system needs repetition to feel safe.

    Not time.
    Not trends.
    Not other estheticians.

    Focus on:

    • Skin improvement

    • Consistency

    • Long-term results

    • Confidence

    • Lifestyle benefits

    Outcome-based language builds trust.

    A no is not:

    • Rejection

    • Proof you’re too expensive

    • A signal to panic

    A no is data.
    Your business doesn’t need everyone.
    It needs the right people.

    Pick one service and:

    1. Rewrite how you talk about it

    2. State the price without softening

    3. Hold the price for 30 days

    4. Observe what changes (internally and externally)

    ✨ Free Pricing Resource
A pricing freebie is linked in the show notes to help you understand and communicate your prices more confidently.

  • Mid-January Slump: Why You’re Busy but Not Booked (and How to Fix It)

    Resources mentioned:

Free Class: How to Get Booked Without Losing Your Mind👉Link

  • Booked Solid Framework: A complete system for visibility, bookings, and consistency👉 [Link ]

  • If January has you feeling tired, busy, and questioning whether anything you’re doing is actually working, this episode is for you.

Mid-January is where a lot of solo estheticians hit a wall. The holidays are over, the “new year motivation” has faded, and suddenly you’re doing a lot but your calendar doesn’t reflect it. In this episode, we’re breaking down why that happens and how to shift from being busy to being booked.

January often comes with low energy, mental fatigue, and pressure to “get it right.” This doesn’t mean your business is failing. It usually means your systems need refinement, not more hustle.

Being busy can feel productive, but it often looks like:

    • Posting constantly with no strategy

    • Tweaking services, pricing, or branding over and over

    • Consuming trainings with no implementation

    • Creating content instead of converting clients

Busy work feels safe. Booking work feels vulnerable.

Clients don’t book because you’re busy.
They book because they have clarity.

If your messaging is confusing, your offers aren’t clear, or there’s no follow-up, bookings stall even when you’re “doing everything.”

A booked-out calendar comes from this formula:

    Visibility + Invitation + Follow-Up = Bookings

If one piece is missing, momentum slows.

Visibility doesn’t mean posting every day.
It means showing up consistently where your clients already are.

    This could be:

    • Educational posts

    • Service-focused stories

    • Email marketing

    • Referrals

    • Local events or networking

Ask yourself: Where am I visible, and does it actually make sense for my clients?

Clients don’t book because they don’t know they’re allowed to.

    Clear invitations sound like:

    • “If you’re struggling with ___, this is for you.”

    • “Spots open next week for ___.”

    • “DM me if this sounds like you.”

Education without invitation does not convert.

    People are distracted, not disinterested.

    Follow-up looks like:

    • Checking in after consultations

    • Rebooking conversations before clients leave

    • Reaching out to past clients

    • Following up multiple times without guilt

    Rebooking is easier than rebuilding.

    • Creating new offers instead of selling existing ones

    • Waiting to feel confident before reaching out

    • Changing direction every week

    • Assuming silence means rejection

Consistency builds trust. Trust builds bookings.

Instead of doing everything, pick one:

    • Follow up with past clients (6+ months)

    • Improve your rebooking conversations

    • Add clear invitations to your content

    • Track where bookings are actually coming from

One focused action can create real momentum.

January doesn’t need to be chaotic to be successful.
Quiet, intentional work now creates loud results later.

    You’re not behind.
    You’re building.

  • Why Your Promotions Aren’t Working (and What to Fix)

If you’re running discounts or specials and still hearing crickets, this one’s your reality check. In this Marketing Monday mini episode, Allyson breaks down the real reason your promos are falling flat — and how to fix them for good. It’s not about offering deeper discounts — it’s about clarity, urgency, and warming up your audience the right way.

    What You’ll Learn:

    • The 3 most common promo mistakes:

      • Vague offers with no context

      • Zero urgency or limited spots

      • Promoting to a cold audience

    • What makes a promo actually convert

    • How to structure a limited-spot CTA that gets DMs

    • Why “blast and hope” isn’t a strategy

    • What to look for in your last promo (and how to improve it)

    • Free resource: Grab the Promo Playbook Freebie to fix your next offer

    Mentioned in this Episode:

    • 💼 Booked Solid Bundle (includes advanced promo strategy templates + DM scripts)

🚨 Estheticians, if your last promo flopped — don’t panic. But do listen.

Because it’s NOT just about giving 15% off and hoping someone bites.
👉 If your promos aren’t converting, this week’s Marketing Monday episode breaks down exactly why — and what to change next time.

    We’re talking:
    • Why vague discounts (like “$10 off”) don’t drive action
    • The power of urgency + real deadlines (and why your audience is ignoring “open all month” promos)
    • What to do BEFORE you drop a sale (hint: it’s called warming up your audience)
    • How to use one simple phrase — “DM me PROMO” — to build an interested list fast
    • Plus, how to check your last promo for what worked and what didn’t

✨ Promotions should book clients, not just look cute.

    This episode gives you:
    ✅ Real strategy
    ✅ Tangible fixes
✅ The mindset shift you’ve been needing

  • New Year, Same Business: How to Reset Without Burning Out

    Resources mentioned:

    Business Plan Brain Dump

Free class: How to get booked without burnout

    Booked Solid Framework

January can feel like a reset button — but for many estheticians, it actually feels heavy, overwhelming, and full of pressure to change everything at once.

In this episode, Allyson breaks down why January is not about reinventing your entire business, and how to reset intentionally without burning yourself out. You’ll learn the difference between rebuilding vs. resetting, why perfection kills momentum, and how to create stability and confidence through small, intentional shifts.

This episode is for you if you’re entering the new year tired, questioning your business, or feeling like you should be “doing more” but don’t know where to start.

    • Why January often comes with quiet pressure to fix everything

    • Why feeling exhausted or unmotivated in January is completely normal

    • How comparison spikes after the new year and why it can derail confidence

    • What a full rebuild actually looks like (and when it makes sense)

    • Why most businesses don’t need to be torn down to grow

    • How resets create stability instead of panic

    • Trying to change everything at once

    • Copying what other people are doing

    • Relying on motivation instead of systems and discipline

    • Chasing perfection and quitting by week two

    Stability builds confidence.

    • Keep the services that already work

    • Keep content styles that feel natural

    • Keep schedules that support your life
Removing everything at once creates panic — not progress.

A simpler business is easier to grow.

    • Reduce services you don’t enjoy

    • Post less but with more intention

    • Stop using platforms or systems that drain you
      Complexity often hides avoidance.

    Ask yourself:
What am I doing out of obligation instead of alignment?

One intentional shift can create massive relief.
    Examples include:

    • Improving rebooking conversations

    • Adding a consistent weekly visibility habit

    • Attending networking or vendor events

    • Creating a CEO check-in hour to review what’s working and what’s not

    Ask yourself:
If I change one thing this month, what would create the most relief?

    • Don’t launch multiple new offers out of pressure

    • Don’t overhaul pricing based on fear or comparison

    • Don’t compare your January to someone else’s highlight reel

    • Don’t panic if bookings aren’t instant
The work you do now shows results in the months ahead.

Write this down and keep it visible:

    • One thing you’re keeping

    • One thing you’re simplifying

    • One thing you’re intentionally adjusting

This becomes your anchor when doubt creeps in.

    January is not a race.
You don’t need to become someone else’s version of success.
Confidence comes from consistency — every single time.

You’re allowed to grow your business without burning out.
You don’t need to reinvent yourself.
You just need to support who you already are.

  • Client Attraction on Autopilot with Email Marketing

Featuring Jen Goff, Email Marketing Expert

In this episode, Allyson sits down with email marketing expert Jen Goff to break down how solo estheticians and beauty professionals can attract clients without relying solely on social media.

This conversation walks through how an automated email funnel works, why most beauty businesses leave money on the table by avoiding email marketing, and how to build relationships that turn into bookings and sales on autopilot.

    Why Email Marketing Matters
Email marketing delivers up to 40x higher ROI than social media and remains the highest-converting platform for service-based businesses. Many beauty professionals miss out on $500 to $5,000 per month simply by not having an email system in place.

    The Client Attraction Email Funnel
Jen breaks the funnel into three simple, repeatable steps that work in the background of your business.

    1. Lead Magnet + Opt-In Form
A lead magnet is a valuable freebie offered in exchange for an email address. This could be a guide, quiz, complimentary consultation, or educational resource. The goal is trust, not heavy discounts. Website visitors are already warm leads and email allows you to continue the relationship instead of losing them.

    2. Automated Welcome Sequence
A short series of 3–5 emails that introduce your brand, deliver the lead magnet, and build trust. This sequence nurtures potential clients before they ever book, creating connection before conversion.

    3. Weekly Newsletters for Conversion
Newsletters keep you top of mind and create consistent bookings and sales. These emails should be strategic, personal, and consistent. Even bi-weekly emails are a strong starting point if weekly feels overwhelming.

Common Email Marketing Mistakes to Avoid
    Only emailing during sales
Sending one email and disappearing for months
Using generic AI-written emails with no personality or brand voice

    Automation = Freedom
An automated email system works while you are in the treatment room, with your family, or sleeping. Once set up, it becomes a powerful, repeatable system that supports long-term growth.

Jen is giving away newsletter templates pulled directly from her membership, The Email Vault. These templates are designed to help beauty professionals connect, convert, and stay consistent without overthinking email content.

Jen Goff is an email marketing expert and mentor, former licensed cosmetologist, and former celebrity hair, makeup, and spray tan artist. She now helps beauty, wellness, and service-based businesses build profitable email systems that attract and retain clients.

  • Christmas Week as a Business Owner: How to Rest Without Losing Momentum

If you’re listening to this on Christmas Day and your brain is still thinking about your business, you’re not doing anything wrong. This episode is a grounding reminder that Christmas week is not a performance week. It’s a transition week.

In this episode, Allyson talks honestly about why this time of year feels mentally heavy for solo estheticians, how to stop carrying December exhaustion into January, and the small, practical actions you can take to protect your energy and your business without hustling through the holidays.

This is not about doing more.
It’s about doing less on purpose so January starts steady, not burnt out.

    • Routines are off
    • Clients are distracted or traveling
    • Money is going out faster than it’s coming in
    • Social media feels loud and unrealistic
    • You feel grateful and overwhelmed at the same time

Christmas week is not a reflection of your business success. It’s a pause between seasons.

    • Do not launch a brand new promotion
    • Do not panic about January
    • Do not redesign your entire business
    • Do not try to “catch up” on everything at once

This is not hustle season. It’s transition season.

    Finish what’s already open:
    • Respond to outstanding messages
    • Send follow-ups you’ve been avoiding
    • Close out December bookings and rebook clients
    • Organize receipts or notes

Mental clutter blocks clarity. Closing loops creates relief.

You do not need new clients this week.

Message 5 past clients (not on Christmas Day):
“Hey, I was thinking about you. Hope you’re having a great holiday.”

No pitch. No pressure. Just connection.

Not a full plan. Just one anchor.

    Ask yourself:
“What would make January feel easier?”

    Examples:
    • Better rebooking
    • More consistent posting
    • Feeling more organized
    • A simple promotion plan

Write it down. That’s your direction.

    • Stop answering messages after work hours
    • Set boundaries around availability
    • Rest without guilt

A regulated esthetician runs a better business. Period.

Your business does not need to grind through Christmas.
It needs to enter January rested, clear, and not resentful.

Calm businesses grow faster than chaotic ones.

This week is about holding what you’ve built, not forcing growth.

    Use the quiet to ask:
    • What worked this year?
    • What drained me?
    • What do I want to do less of?
    • Where do I need more support?

You don’t need answers today. You need honesty.

    • Business Plan Brain Dump
A guided reset to help you see where your business is now and where it should go next

    • Free Webinar: How to Get Booked Without Losing Your Bananas

You are likely doing better than you think.
    Rest today.
January will be ready for you.

    Merry Christmas.
