Wendy Armstrong says:
I have been qualified as a nurse for 26 years. The last 16 of those years has been as a practice nurse in the same practice specialising in the management of Type 2 diabetes. I had always questioned why we treat a disease of insulin resistance with drugs that increase insulin secretion or with insulin itself.
In 2015 I read the 8 week blood sugar diet book and it all clicked.
I started eating low carb myself having gone gluten-free after seeing a naturopath in 2017 to help reverse post viral fatigue then gradually I have transitioned to keto then 16 months ago to a more carnivore way of eating.

Helen is passionate about improving the options for people with type 2 diabetes after seeing the destruction it caused her dad. She wants the NHS to support people to achieve remission using a real food, low carbohydrate approach. She is a registered dietitian and director of The Lifestyle Club (TLC) a health coaching service for adults with type 2 diabetes, developed by the charity, Public Health Collaboration. TLC has helped over 700 people and is already commissioned by 44 GP surgeries around the country. She recently launched a crowdfunding campaign for a TLC research study with the University of Surrey which is starting in September.
Jon is a type 1 diabetic himself and having taken control of his own diabetes and normalising his blood glucose through his own independent research he now wants to share the experience and insight he has gained and support other diabetics towards achieving similar results to his own. Jon chose to join the PHC to achieve this aim and after having set up and run his own volunteer ambassador programme to support participants drawn from his local GP surgery. He then went on to train in the first wave of TLC health coaches to support what is now many hundreds of people living with diabetes and pre-diabetes from all over the country. Jon finds the work hugely rewarding, and each story of remission he hears fills his day with joy.

Jean Kotterman-Mumau says:
I am a working single mom of three children. One is married, one is finishing up college, and one is in high school and home full-time with me. I have always been a teacher, and most recently have been working as a Reading Specialist, helping children with reading delays due to Covid, learning disabilities or other reasons.
Early on in my 30s, I became interested in eating “low-carb” as a means of losing weight, but most recently, I have tried eating strictly keto as a way of combating colon cancer and reducing the side effects of treatments such as radiation and chemotherapy.

Tia Reid says:
Having been diagnosed with T2D, Metabolic Syndrome, Hypertension, Obesity, Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver, Sleep Apnea as well as Adrenal Insufficiency and carbohydrate addiction. I realized it was high time I engaged in Self-Management of my chronic illness. I needed to, in effect, take action to improve my health to save my own life.
I adapted to the mindset through the guidance of Dr. Robert Cywes that carbohydrates are an addiction to treat my T2D and metabolic syndrome. This is what saved my life. It was abundantly clear that I am a carbohydrate/sugar addict. Under the care of Dr. Cywes and support from everyone in the LowCarb Community, I have eliminated over 20 medications.I now have a passion for life and a desire to help others.
I have over 35 years of experience in service based environments. From owning a restaurant and Motel, to currently working in a hospital setting as the Director of Nutritional Services.
Because of my firsthand knowledge of how a LCHF lifestyle can help and even reverse NAFL,T2D, Obesity, Hypertension and Adrenal insufficiency, sleep apnea, depression and gout. I am enthusiastic to give others the therapeutic option of LCHF Nutrition on their individual journeys to wellness, as a Nutrition Network Coach accredited by the Society of Metabolic Practitioners and Certified and Licensed SUGAR Addiction Specialist. With this certification, specializing in sugar/flour and processed-food addiction that includes effective screening, assessment, evaluation, and treatment of processed-food addiction.
I am currently enrolled in HMA Training on the highly beneficial process of biochemical repair or in the pro-active treatment of Addiction Interaction Disorder (AID) with Bittens Addiction.

Vic Basmadjian is an advocate of low carbohydrate and ketogenic diets after recovering his own poor health. At 55, he was obese, weighing in at almost 300 lbs., and had high blood pressure and sleep apnea.
Over the past few decades, Vic had repeatedly attempted to lose weight through calorie restriction, and although he had often lost significant amounts, he had never been able to sustain the weight loss.
It finally occurred to him that cutting out refined carbs- such as rice, potato, and pasta- seemed to help with his weight loss efforts. Soon after, his son asked Vic if he knew anything about the ketogenic diet and that led Vic to start doing his own research on the internet.
Vic used the ketogenic diet to sustainably lose one hundred pounds, while improving his health and quality of life, and he has now turned much of his attention to helping others. Vic recently spoke with The Society for Metabolic Health Practitioners about his life-changing transformation and plans to earn the Metabolic Health Practitioner accreditation!
