福来朗 ---HUKUROU---

越前の国の代官、野本彌治衞門が亡くなった時、部下たちは野本に不正や借金があるかのように見せかけ、野本の財産を全て奪おうとした。

部下たちは宰相に訴え、野本の妻子まで責任を問われることとなり、越前国を追われた。

ある日、その追われた先で、女中の一人がひきつけを起こし、野本の声と口調で話し始めた。

The subordinates appealed to the Prime Minister, and even Nomoto's wife and children were held responsible, and were chased out of the Echizen Province.

One day, while being chased away, one of the maidens suffered a stroke and began to speak in Nomoto's voice and tone.

村の猟師である次郎七と五郎八は、獲物がなかった帰り道、八幡さまの森に差し掛かりました。

すると、月明かりの中、椋の木の枝に狸が腹鼓を打っています。

二人は、この狸をとってやれ、と鉄砲を向けました。

しかし、狸に逃げられてしまいました。

村へ入ると、また狸がいて、道の真ん中で踊ってます。

Jiroshichi and Gorohachi, two hunters from the village, were on their way home after having caught nothing when they came upon the forest of Hachiman-sama.

In the moonlight, they saw a raccoon drumming its belly on the branch of a muku tree.

The two men aimed their guns at the raccoon, hoping to catch it.

But the raccoon escaped.

When they entered the village, they found the raccoon again, dancing in the middle of the road.

悪魔は暗い下水道の中で、コウモリやネズミと一緒に汚物を食べて暮らしていました。

ある日、掃除夫が掃除口の蓋を締め忘れて帰ってきました。

明るい光に惹かれて、悪魔が外を見てみますと、そこはきらびやかな世界でした。

悪魔は子犬に化けて、街を探検しだしました。

A demon lived in the sewers of the city.

The devil lived in the dark sewers, eating filth with bats and rats.

One day, the janitor came home after forgetting to close the lid of the cleaning spout.

Attracted by the bright light, the devil looked outside and saw a glittering world.

The devil disguised himself as a puppy and began to explore the city.

あるところに五右衛門という怠け者がいました。

昔、石川五右衛門という大泥棒がいたという、泥棒ならば楽に違いないと、彼は橋の下に住んで泥棒になることにしました。

しかし、泥棒も楽ではありません。彼はゴミさえ満足に漁ることも出来ませんでした。

そんなある日、橋の欄干で不思議な老人と出会いました。

老人は「わしは仙人じゃ」と言うので、彼は泥棒するために戦術を教えて欲しいと願いました。

Once upon a time there was a lazy man named Goemon.

There once was a great thief named Ishikawa Goemon, and he decided to live under a bridge and become a thief, thinking that being a thief must be easy.

However, being a thief is not easy. He could not even scavenge garbage.

One day, he met a mysterious old man on the parapet of the bridge.

The old man said, "I am a hermit," and he asked him to teach him some tactics for thieving.

昔、あるところに陶器で有名なお店がありました。

その店は、土を選びぬき、腕の良い職人を沢山抱えていたので、他国でも有名でした。

旅人はみな、わざわざその店に寄り、陶器を土産に買っていました。

ある時、偉いお役人が店に来て「おまえのところで、お殿様の茶碗をつくってほしい」と言いました。

店の主人は光栄なことだと喜び、店の者を集めて、腕によりをかけて茶碗を作るのだと号令を発しました。

Once upon a time, there was a store famous for its pottery.

The store was famous in other countries as well, because it chose the best clay and had many skilled craftsmen.

Every traveler went out of his way to stop by the store and buy pottery as souvenirs.

One day, an important government official came to the store and said, "I would like you to make tea bowls for the lord at your place.

The owner of the store was so pleased with the honor that he gathered all the staff together and ordered them to put their skills to the test in making the bowls.

しかし、数日すると、龍雄は家へ帰ってきてしまいました。

Once upon a time, there was a ruffian named Tatsuo.

He was always bullying the village children and making them cry.

At the age of 14, Tatsuo's family was not very rich, so a kind old man in the village persuaded him to go into apprenticeship.

However, after a few days, Tatsuo returned home.

私は子供の頃、女中をいじめた。特に鈍臭い女中をいじめた。

お慶は鈍臭い女中だった。りんごの皮をむいてる時、ナイフの手を休めて、いつまでもぼーっとしていた。

私は子供のくせに「おい、お慶、日は短いのだぞ」と叱ったりなどもした。

ある夏の日、私はお慶に、絵本から数百ある兵隊の絵を切り抜くよう命じた。

お慶は不器用な上に、汗っかきなので、出来上がりはどれも汗でくちゃくちゃだった。

腹を立てた私は、お慶の肩を蹴った。しかし、お慶は顔を押さえ、「親にさえ顔を踏まれたことはない」と恨みがましく泣き伏した。

When I was a child, I bullied my wench. I especially bullied the dull wenches.

Okei was a dull wench. When she was peeling apples, she would rest her hand on the knife and stand idle for hours.

Even as a child, I would scold her, saying, "Hey, Okei, the days are short.

One summer day, I ordered Okei to cut out hundreds of pictures of soldiers from a picture book.

Okei was clumsy and sweaty, so all the finished pictures were a mess of sweat.

I got angry and kicked Okei in the shoulder. But Okei held his face and cried bitterly, "Even my parents never stepped on my face.

客車には私一人しか客はなく、プラットホームも閑散としていた。

発車の笛が吹かれた時、慌ただしく乗り込んできた客がいた。

それは貧しい格好をした13,14歳の小娘だった。

It was dusk on a winter's day, and I was waiting for the train to depart in a second-class passenger car on the Yokosuka Line.

I was the only passenger in the coach and the platform was deserted.

When the whistle blew, there was a rush of passengers who boarded the train.

It was a poorly dressed 13- or 14-year-old girl.
