No Contact from a toxic relationship is not just a strategy, it’s a declaration of self-respect.
Going No Contact or using the Grey Rock method—which strategy is right for you? Narcissistic abuse survivors often face the dilemma of which tactic to use when cutting ties with a narcissist. In this episode of Fake Love and Flying Monkeys, I break down both strategies, explaining when and how to use them effectively.
No Contact means cutting the narcissist completely out of your life—no texts, no calls, no social media. It’s often the best way to heal, but let’s face it, it’s not always possible. Maybe you share kids, work together, or have family ties that make it complicated. That’s where Grey Rock comes in. This method helps you disengage emotionally, making yourself as boring and unresponsive as possible to avoid feeding their drama.
I’ll share real-life examples from my counseling practice, showing how survivors have used these strategies in situations like co-parenting with a toxic ex, dealing with a manipulative boss, or managing a narcissistic parent. You’ll also learn the biggest mistakes to avoid and how to handle setbacks when the narcissist tries to pull you back in.
By the end of this episode, you’ll have a clearer understanding of which approach suits your situation best and feel more confident setting boundaries that protect your peace.
