B: Wow, that's quite the commitment! Good for you.

A: Thanks! And you know what? If I stick with it for a whole month, you have to join me.

例句：

A: Why did you suddenly suggest a weekend party during the meeting when everyone looked serious?

B: I just wanted to lighten the mood, didn't think much.

A: You need to read the room — the boss was announcing layoffs at that moment.

B: I see, I completely failed to pick up on the vibe.

参考翻译：

A: 刚才开会时，大家都表情严肃，你为何突然提议周末开派对？

B: 我只是想活跃气氛，没想太多。

A: 你需要察言观色——那时老板正宣布裁员消息。

⭐read the room

察言观色；有眼力见儿；看清形势 / 识时务；别不会看脸色；懂得看气氛

例句：

He just can't read the room.

他就是不会察言观色。

He is bad at reading the room.

他不擅长察言观色。

He kept talking about money when everyone was sad. He just can't read the room.

大家都很悲伤时，他还不停谈钱。他真不会看脸色。

He kept talking about his promotion at the funeral. He really doesn’t know how to read the room.

他在葬礼上不停地谈论自己升职的事。真是一点也不会看场合。

Before you make that joke, read the room. Everyone is in a bad mood today.

例句：

He told a joke to lighten the mood after the tense discussion.

察觉到/感知到氛围

例句：

She's really good at picking up on the vibe in any situation.

You need to pick up on the vibe before making a joke.

A: You look tired lately. Is everything okay with your new job?

B: Yeah, we are. We keep saying the same things and getting nowhere.

A: Let's pick one idea and just try it.

B: Good. Action is better than another loop.

翻译：

A: 这个问题我们都聊了一个小时了。我们不就是在原地打转吗？

B: 是啊。一直重复同样的话，毫无进展。

⭐go round in circles

在原地打转、做无用功、反复讨论却没有进展

例句：

We've been going round in circles for hours and still can't agree.

例句：

Without a map, we'll get nowhere. 

没有地图，我们会迷路的。

Talking to him is frustrating; you get nowhere. 

跟他说话真让人沮丧，完全是白费口舌。

Complaining will get you nowhere. Take action!
