There is one very specific thing that we teach business owners to do that quickly transforms their overwhelm to a feeling of excitement and renewed energy for their business.
They get a laser focus and, importantly, they start getting more sales and are able to reach their goals sooner.
What is this "wonder-drug" we are giving business owners you might ask?
Well, it's something that's been around a long time.
And it's something that is definitely not the latest fad. In fact, I think it's been drastically underrated by most business owners.
It starts with not 'winging it' in business.
It starts with actually planning.
Now, before you sigh in disappointment (I know, I know, it's so boring, right!?).
Just stay with me for a few moments.
Because I PROMISE you, this is the one thing you can be doing right now to get out from under that stressed out, overwhelmed feeling you have around your business and finally start getting rewarded for all your hard work.
In this episode, I give you our 3-Part Planning for Business Success model which we have taught our members for years,
When we share the planning process, it's as if the light bulb goes on and the impact is very often profound.
We've seen people double their incomes, open to new markets, release successful new products and discover lucrative new marketing channels using this process.
As a result, over the past few years, these business owners have gone from feeling ambivalent (at best) and downright resistant (at worst), to absolutely LOVING planning.
Ready to get planning?
It all starts with your vision.
Thanks to these members for sharing their business visions (Listen to hear them and create your own vision and plan).

Recently I caught myself waiting for all the little ducks to line up and be in a row before I took action on something I wanted to do.
I was letting myself stay stuck because of my inner chatter.
I caught myself and got out of my' holding pattern'.
Where in life or business do you recognise that you are currently waiting for conditions to be better/perfect before taking the next action?
Who or what are YOU waiting for?
Often we can let the excuse that we're waiting on someone else be our excuse for not moving ahead or as a way to procrastinate.
When we wait to get all our ducks in a ROW, we can put the breaks on our dreams.
In this episode, I tell you how getting to action this one Sunday morning was about making the decisions for ME.
I had to stop worrying about what anyone else was doing.
This decision made all the difference to my mood.
Thanks to these wonderful HerBusiness Network members for letting me share their stories:

We recently completed one of our biggest projects for the year, our annual Business Growth Summit for Women Entrepreneurs, a free online summit that brings together women from all over the world to learn from world-class speakers, bestselling authors and inspiring entrepreneurs.
We had 4,500 women register for the summit and the feedback we've had has been phenomenal.
Members LOVED all these lessons and they've started to put these to work in their business. While they all enjoyed the practical advice - many were more impacted by the confidence and understanding they felt when we dove into the inner game topics.

In her book Power Attractor, author Gabrielle Bernstein says: "Find what inspires you most and commit to doing more of it! When we bring energy to what inspires us, we connect to our Super Attractor power and the manifesting begins." What she's saying is that when we do what lights us up, what we love, we draw to us all manner of things that we dream of, in our business and in our life. Our tag-line at HerBusiness is: Do What You Love, Every Day. So, I feel very aligned to any message that is about doing work that really lights us up, that keeps us alive and awake on every level - mentally and emotionally and spiritually. I know that my work leading HerBusiness is totally inspired. My goal is to have Inspiration - the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative - be present in my work every single day. So, my question to you is… What lights you up?
In this episode of the HerBusiness podcast I share:Inspiration Tips from the HerBusiness Network members
When we asked members how they bring more inspiration into their lives and here's what they said...
"My morning walks and writing. On the inspiration side of things, quality people, a good (I love biographies) on-going education, podcasts etc. and removing negative people from my life."— Tess Brook, Tess Brook Mediator
"Sitting in a quiet place preferably surrounded by nature with its beauty and sounds. Ironically though a lot of my creative ideas happen at around 3 am, so l need to keep pen & paper next to the bed."— Jenny Knox
"For me, it's being visionary, believing is seeing.
Each January for the past 19 years I set a minimum of 1 big goal which is hard to achieve and a few small goals to support it. Every year of achieved it personally or professionally."— Karina Prefontaine, Plum Petal
"I love a good 'CLEAR OUT' at the end of every year. Cleaning out all papers, old clothes, kids toys, old books - basically anything that doesn't serve me or my family. A lot may go to donations and helps others, otherwise, the rest goes to the tip! For me, it keeps that cycle of giving going as well cleansing. Getting rid of old energy and bringing in the new."— Leticia Alvarez, InContext Marketing & Communications
"For business, I need to find time to step away - travel - go somewhere else (even the beach for a few hours), but I need to remove myself from the environment to get new ideas, inspiration and allow my 'left brain' to quieten down and my right brain some space to do its thing. Ideally, this works better if I can get away for at least a few days, but on the micro-level just taking a walk through a bush trail or along the beach is also good. I also listen to mindset podcasts while walking to open up some new ways of thinking." — Kristy-Lee Heighway Billett, The Footprint Group
"Alone time, exercise, books, podcasts."— Charlie Trevena, Charlie Trevena Tourism Marketing
"Crochet! My morning square is my meditative time and some amazing ideas come to me some days while making my square."— Seona Roberts, Honouring ME Crochet
"For me as a full-on right-brainer (creative) inspiration comes from everywhere... looking at people, Behance, grocery shopping (looking at the packaging), art galleries, magazines, movie set, fabrics, fashion design etc, everything that is tactile. I get inspiration absolutely everywhere and I store things that I feel interesting, in my brain to use later. I think I'm very conditioned in that way as a creative director because inspiration is the source of every idea you bring to the table.
I can spend hooouurrs in a bottle shop looking at all the beautiful labels and packaging... this while I don't drink a drop of alcohol lol.
This image, for example, gives me so much inspiration... the colour, texture, composition, contrast, etc."— Greet Recoules, Greet Your Brand
"Being fully present to whatever I'm doing allows my creativity to flow and lights me up."— Anne Aleckson, Channel and Transformational Speaker
"I believe in like attracting like and that surrounding yourself with the energy you want to work with will illuminate your own creativity. Sometimes I, crank up the stereo to Gyuto Monks chanting, it just works! or go to an art gallery, sit with a notepad and take a deep breath and just write, anything. All of it sparks my inspiration."— Kim Sowter, Intuition Coach
"For me, it's reflection, connection and routine. (Maybe these could be my better 3 words for 2020.) Morning rituals of meditation, yoga and healthy breakfast, chunking time for priority tasks, theming the week and setting aside a weekend each month for a solitary retreat all work wonders for me."— Sharn Rocco, Mindful Works
"I love my morning practice - meditation - journaling - yoga. That keeps me grounded and inspires clarity. My greatest source of inspiration occurs during learning via podcasts, audiobooks, webinars or reading book books."— Tracey Bode, Zyteq
"I engage the team with funny gifs and morning messages - and we all chat - which makes us feel connected and ready to go."— Amanda Cullen, Michelle French and Associates

Happy new year.
For many of us, this is a time of contemplating and deliberately creating the new year.
A time for envisioning what we want to do better, differently this year.
A time for starting and breaking habits.
Each January for a few years, I've taken on Chris Brogan's invitation to set three words as a focus for the year.
Chris Brogan is an American author, journalist, marketing consultant, and speaker about social media marketing I've had the pleasure to meet and interview a few times.
He has really great books like The Impact Equation, Trust Agents and one of my fave titles - The Freaks Shall Inherit the Earth - Entrepreneurship for Weirdos, Misfits, and World Dominators.
A couple of weeks back, Chris did a one-hour webinar where he talked through how to pick your three words, how to incorporate their usage into your day to day planning and execution, and how to use the My 3 Words method for deciding how best to make decisions that closely match your intentions.
Chris says this about his process:
"Every year, at the beginning of the year, choose 3 words that have personal meaning to you that you will use as guideposts for your chosen path forward in the coming year. Make the words such that they influence your choice of actions, encourage you to decide in favour of your goals, and guide you towards lasting results that you want to experience throughout the year."
So, after a few days of tossing around words that might be a good fit, I came up with my three words.

If you were to be bolder in 2020 than you were in 2019, what would you do?
What gutsy goals would you set?
Each year I ask our HerBusiness Network members to consider this question as we get to the end of a year.
And, this is a question that I too have asked myself for many years.
At the start of 2019 members listed Bold Goals like:
Wow. They were some pretty amazing and bold goals.
Your Bold Goal is your heart speaking what it wants.
When you set that Bold Goal (even if you're too afraid to verbalise it) it can make you sweat a little.
That, is an indication that it's a place that you want to dare to go.
And, with the right support you can step into this bolder way of being.
I truly believe you can achieve anything when you have the right people and resources available to you.

Ever since I was young, I've kept a journal. There were years where I religiously spilled my guts into a journal, my first romances, my deepest worries, my concerns.
Then, for many years I did not write. Many years. Like most of my 20s and part of my 30s.
Today I write daily. It's become a habit that I'm keen to keep up. One that I make a priority each morning, before I dive into my day.
Here's why...
About 20 years ago I came across Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way and started again, using her guidance, to write regularly. I bought a bunch of her books The Sound of Paper, The Artist's Way at Work… and I ate them up.
I was in my late 20s and early 30s and so much was changing about my life I needed an outlet.
I was in my own business and there was a lot of confusion about what I was doing and where I was going. And it really helped.
In this episode I explain how I recently rediscovered the power of a daily journaling habit and how I got past the concern of not having anything to write or say.

Regardless of what sort of results we are looking for, when we don't go after a specific outcome, when we don't have a definite idea of what we are trying to achieve… how can we know if we are successful?
We have unlimited options to be, do and have what we want in life and business, including:
How we spend our time
How we build our business
The products and services that we provide
Who we serve as customers
Who we surround ourselves with - our peers, mentors, teachers
These unlimited choices can leave us making no choice, for fear of making the wrong choice.
Or, we hold back simply because we haven't identified the power of being 'definite with the infinite'.

Have you ever felt confused about making the right decisions for your business?

And, imagine feeling confident in your decisions… … knowing exactly where to allocate your time and resources.
When you gain clarity, your capacity and ability to take action, to make forward progress is multiplied.
This podcast episode will help you get clarity and overcome vagueness and confusion.
Finding clarity and direction in your life isn't difficult when you do some very specific things to gain that focus and certainty.
Clarity helps you step into your potential more fully and with authority and strength.
