Why does change feel so hard?! Even when we know that the change we seek is for the better, we can still face resistance to it.
Whether it’s an epic life event, or a small new habit we want to start, change can be challenging because it’s new. And new is usually uncomfortable at first.
So, what do we do about this resistance? Do we try to ignore it? Do we push past it and find the willpower to press on? Or do we give the resistance we’re experiencing the power and allow it to hold us back from meaningful change?
In today’s episode, you’ll learn the most common ways that resistance shows up in our lives and I give you a simple 3-step framework for what to do when you experience resistance to change.

We live in a “quick fix” culture that tells us that the more we know, the more we’re going to be able to see our desired results and outcomes.
But this simply isn’t true. Think about it - if this was true, every one of us would have 6-pack abs, supermodel confidence, and be running a 7-figure business. We’ve all read books, listened to podcasts, and followed social media accounts about how to do these things, but that doesn't mean that we actually do them. Why is that?!
In today’s episode, you’ll learn the top mistake that people make that is holding them back from achieving their desired results or outcomes.
Here's the thing - there are 3 steps to lasting change, and most of us get stuck in step 2. Once you understand all 3 steps and put them into practice - watch out. You my friend will be unstoppable.

Curious whether you can actually transform your anxiety, low confidence, or self-doubt into peace, joy, and self-love?
Today’s guest, Tara Swann, did just that. For years she suppressed her emotions which led to anxiety, depression, an autoimmune disorder, and codependency in relationships.
Tara transformed her own life through holistic health, mindset & mindfulness practices, and emotional empowerment work, and is now an Emotional Empowerment Coach who inspires others to do the same.

Our kids all do certain things that can be triggering for us.
In frustration, we can wonder what we’re doing wrong when our kids have moments of disobedience, defiance, and disrespect.
In today’s episode, I’m here to offer you another perspective. While it’s certainly not the easy route, our kid’s most difficult behaviors may actually be a good thing.
I explain 1) why our kids’ pushing back is beneficial for their emotional growth and development and 2) when we do the inner work to start healing our triggers, we can hold beautiful space for our children as they practice new skills (like respectfully disagreeing) in a safe environment.

Sometimes it can feel like no one appreciates all we do as working moms. I get it - sometimes it feels like a simple “thank you” would go a long way.
A few years ago, I started to notice that I was judging myself for feeling this way. But the truth is that we all have needs, including a need to be seen and valued.
In today’s episode, I coach you through what to do when you feel unseen and unappreciated. I offer an invitation to reframe your mindset and take ownership of expressing your needs.
I even coach you through the script I used in conversation with my husband to share with him how I was feeling unappreciated (without it starting an argument). Was it a little awkward? Maybe. But it was so worth it!

In our 100th episode (woot woot!!), I’m joined by Lauren, our podcast producer extraordinaire, to discuss what it means to be a “good” mom. Do we need to throw Pinterest-worthy birthday parties (no), feed our kiddos only organic (also no), or always keep our cool (nope again)?
It does mean we love deeply. We do our best. We show up even when we don’t feel like it. We own our shortcomings and mistakes. We have a lot of laughs. We wipe tears and kiss boo-boos and say bedtime prayers. We find the joy amidst the chaos.
Lauren and I take a walk down memory lane and discuss imposter syndrome and the limiting beliefs that crept in over the launch of the podcast and how we navigated that season of growth.
As busy moms, we can get caught in a trap of trying to do it all and oftentimes our drive as high achievers can lead us to overwhelm and burnout. Lauren and I discuss how we’ve managed what we realistically expect of ourselves and how setting better boundaries has been key to our consistency.
Listen in as I also cast vision for what’s to come for The Calm Mom Podcast. And finally, THANK YOU for joining us for 100 episodes! Come celebrate with us!

We all wake up and start each day by default or by design.
When we’re living by default, it’s easy to find ourselves feeling like a hot mess! It’s exhausting, hectic & overwhelming. We live our lives scrambling from one moment to the next without much intention.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.
Living by design is living purposefully. Its having a handle on the things we can control - delegating, planning, communicating, using our time wisely – all which lead to a sense of calm.
In today’s episode, I coach you through 3 simple ways you can start living each day with intention. These aren’t complicated practices. They’re not time-consuming routines. They’re simple, subtle shifts that can make a huge impact in a short amount of time.

You've built a full life. The career, the family, the responsibilities, the goals — all of it.
And the fuller it gets, the more stretched thin you feel.
Not…
But because your nervous system was never upgraded to match the life you've built.
High Capacity is the podcast for ambitious women who are done just managing their stress and are ready to actually expand what they can hold.
Hosted by trial attorney turned nervous system strategist Michelle Grosser, each episode unpacks the nervous system science behind why you feel maxed out, reactive, and depleted — and gives you real tools to expand your capacity across every area of your life.
This isn't just about doing less.
It's about becoming someone whose nervous system can hold more — more joy, more presence, more of the life you've worked hard to build, and more of the demands that come with it — without the low-grade stress that's become your new normal.
Here’s what you’ll learn:
- How to expand your emotional, stress, physical, relational, and joy capacity
- Nervous system-based tools that work in real life, in real time
- How to identify your Capacity Pattern — the specific strategy your nervous system defaults to when you're overwhelmed — and what it means for your stress, your relationships, and your daily life
New episodes every Tuesday and Friday.
Tuesdays bring the nervous system science and tools.
Hi-Cap Fridays give you one practical move to expand your capacity in the week ahead.
