  • 087 – Is Your Inner Child Running the Show? Simple Steps to Start Reparenting Yourself

Each of us has an “inner child” that's a part of our subconscious.  Our inner child has memories, emotions, and beliefs that were shaped by our own childhood.

Here’s the thing, most of our current-day issues – the things we struggle with in adulthood – stem from unmet needs during our childhood.

For the most part, our inner child can be calm and content, just hanging out there in our subconscious, not really disrupting our adult life.

But at times, it can also act out and start running the show without us even realizing it.  Before we know it, our inner child can get in the way of healthy relationships, cause emotional outbursts, and keep us feeling stuck.

Listen to today’s episode to learn some of the unexpected ways your inner child might be showing up and disrupting your life.  With this new awareness, I teach some simple steps to connect with your inner child and start your reparenting journey.

  • 084 – Do You Ever Feel Smothered in "Shoulds"? How to Tell Whether You’re Living in Alignment

To live in alignment is simply to live in integrity with yourself.  Simply put, alignment is when your external world matches your internal world.  It’s being true to the deepest parts of who you are and what you want.

So, when you’re not living in alignment, something just feels off.  I’ve been there, and it can be really exhausting to wake up every day saying “yes” to something that every part of your inner being is screaming “no” to.  It’s no surprise that denying our authentic voice and our true desires leads straight to burnout, anxiety, and overwhelm.

In today’s episode, I coach you through exercises to gain clarity about your authentic self – who you really are.  I teach you how to come back into integrity with the parts of you that are actually yours so you can find true and authentic alignment.

“Go back to your values. What are the things that are important to you? For some people, maybe making a really good meal is important, but then the house is gonna have to wait. For other people, it's like, “I'm going to play with the kids and we're gonna like order takeout.” So, knowing what is important will help you prioritize those things. So, for myself, work is important and then spending time with my kids is important. So, my house looks like a little bit of a dumpster fire, and I feed my kids more Kraft dinner than I probably should. Will it always be like that? No. One day I'll have a clean house, but for now, these are my priorities.” – Mama Psychologists

Did you know that success correlates more closely with confidence than it does with competence?

While that’s good news for all you recovering perfectionists out there, it begs the question - how do I have more confidence?!

There’s no way around it – confidence is linked to more doing, and less thinking.  It stems from a growth mindset. It’s this idea that when I take action, every outcome is an opportunity for me to learn, grow, and get better.

But you know that I don’t only coach mindset – I’ll always coach the whole of you. Listen to today’s episode to learn about the art and science of having more confidence, and how to harness the somatic (body) component to showing up confidently.

  • 080 - Seeking Validation: Are You Playing an Outside-In or Inside-Out Game?

We all share a universal human need to be loved.  And sometimes we can feel pressure to do (or have) certain things in order to feel accepted by the people we care about or look up to.

I get it – self-doubt, imposter syndrome, comparison, fear of judgment – all this stuff will take a mile if we give it an inch.  So, we’ve gotta be really discerning about what (and whom) we allow to validate us as women.

In today’s episode, we explore the only two options for seeking validation and approval – externally or internally. Listen in as I explore what it means to seek external validation vs. internal validation, and how we can be more intentional about what’s guiding our self-perception and worthiness.

P.S. Have you heard the big news?! The Motherhood Podcast is getting a makeover! Stay tuned as big changes are coming to the podcast name and cover art.  No worries – we’ll still be serving you the same great content 3x a week!
