In this episode, Luis is joined by Inge Sengelmann, a somatic resilience educator and integrative mind-body healer. Luis and Inge have a interesting conversation about the role of identity and belonging.
They discuss how their experiences as White-passing, multi-cultural individuals has impacted them, as well as what it means to find a sense of belonging inside your body rather than in external groups, the difference between grasping at and exploring a sense of self, and why being present is critical to forming a healthy sense of self.

On today's episode, the HLN team is joined by Simone Grace Seol, and they discuss overcouplings as they relate to race and prejudice.
Simone had posted on Instagram about the phrase “I don’t see color", and Luis was curious to explore the statement through the lens of somatics.
They discuss:
The only way to feel and recognize someone else’s trauma (caused through systemic repression) is to build capacity for one’s own trauma. When you realize bias is something your body is doing, and not something you're intentionally doing it, it takes away the shame, so you can explore with curiosity.

We welcome back the HLN team for another raucous conversation! In this episode, the HLN team explores the constriction many entrepreneurs experience around setting and raising their rates.
They each share their own background and overcouplings with money and how it has impacted their ability to set their rates.
They also discuss how money helps feed capacity for their work, the difference between cost and value, why people aren't entitled to their time, and the role of agency on both setting their rates and shifting their lifestyles if/when necessary.

This is a beautifully vulnerable, authentic, and potentially uncomfortable conversation between Luis and his dear friend Caelan Manning as they explore their similar and different experiences with gender dysphoria.
They first share how they met and clicked due to being kindred spirits with Luis having feminine gender expressions and Caelan being transgender.
This robust conversation explores a multitude of topics including contemplating suicide, the gift in delaying medical transitions, and why surgery didn't heal their gender dysphoria.
Luis also shares with us a song he created, inspired by Caelan's transformation.

It can seem like it is or should be so simple but it much more elusive than we think: being present.
In this episode, Luis explores why many of us avoid the highly sensational experience of being present -- low capacity. And while we often think having a low capacity for sensations means we avoid the "negative" sensations, it actually keeps us from experiencing the "positive" sensations as well.
Luis reviews a multitude of behaviors we all employ to help us bypass, distract us from, or manage sensations as well as guides us through two short but impactful practices: 1) a practice to help become aware of our current capacity for sensations and 2) a practice to support the body in expanding its capacity for sensation.

We welcome back friends of HLN, James-Olivia and Nisha Mody!
Nisha, James-Olivia, and Luis have a beautiful, existential conversation about a word that is all too easily thrown around -- manifesting.
They first explore what it means to decolonize manifestation, i.e. to go from being in domination of to relationship with, and then explore a myriad of topics including:

Inspired by an article written by Lyla June, Reclaiming our Indigenous European Roots, Luis explores the dangers of denying and disowning our Whiteness.
He first discusses why an overcoupling of Whiteness with "bad" can actually lead to fawning or performative allyship, i.e. behaviors that in reality do not support those who may be experiencing racism.
But he further explores what many of us have not only gained but also lost in assimilating to the American White ideal and similarly, how only associating the parts of our lineage that may align with "Whiteness" with evil or destruction can eclipse a lineage that also may have aspects of beauty and connection.
Luis also reads for us Reclaiming our Indigenous European Rootsin its entirety.
