  • How She Got Paid When The Scope Creep Was Real!

You started your business because you were sick of being overworked and underpaid. And now that you have a few clients and you’re working on a few projects you’re - wait -  still overworked and underpaid? How did that happen!

It may be because clients are filling your time with more tasks than you agreed on. It’s usually not malicious, but it has to be corrected. It’s time to present a new contract with a higher rate. Which is scary, but it can be done! Our guest, LaToya Russell has done it plenty of times and she hasn’t had a bad interaction yet.

In this week’s episode of HSDT, LaToya Russell and I talk about how to get paid what you're worth when dealing with scope creep.

    This Week We Talk About:

    • What is scope creep
    • How we protect our boundaries when working with our clients
    • How to approach your client about a new contract
    • How to protect yourself by writing specifics into your contract

Do you have a hard time giving up control? Me too. I know this business inside and out so it can be hard to hand it over to a complete stranger. Even though I did just hire them to be a teammate in said business 😬

But, at the end of the day, when you run an agency, you have to learn how to let go. And over time, you’ll learn to trust your new team. I did, and now I’m going to make things easier for you too.

In next week’s FB Live, I’ll be talking about 4 Ways to Make Delegation Easier (and Really Do the Delegation Trust Fall)

Check it out at 2pm EST on Sept 28th

  • How She Runs a Successful Biz with ADHD

Since I was diagnosed with ADHD at 23, I’ve spent a good amount of my time learning more about it. That led me to learn more about myself and how I work. And all this learning about ADHD as a business owner led me to find more business owners who’ve been diagnosed as well, which led me to Courtney Chaal!

Courtney is an amazing person who understands the strengths and struggles we’ve faced as someone with ADHD. If you’ve ever felt like you needed a new way of doing things, this is the episode for you. 👯‍♀️

In this week’s episode of HSDT, Courtney Chaal and I talked about how we’ve been able to run our successful business with our ADHD diagnoses.

    This Week We Talk About:

    • What it’s like to be an Online Business Owner with ADHD
    • How to make your ADHD work for you
    • How your ADHD can resonate with your clients

Do you own an agency or are you in the process of building one? Are you having a hard time figuring out how to delegate tasks to your teammates? I’ve definitely been there - so I know you might be having a hard time giving up control.

And it makes sense! This business was your baby for so long! But as an agency owner, you need to step into a CEO mindset and trust that the people YOU hired are amazing at what they do and can get the job done. Trust me, I had to learn this lesson the hard way.

In next week’s FB Live, I’ll be talking about how I learned how to give up control to help my agency grow and how you can, too.

Check it out at 2 pm EST on Sept 21st over on the Tasha Booth Facebook page!

  • Mini Coaching Session - How Do I Decide Between Focusing on Building an Agency vs Creating a Group Program or Digital Product?

It’s time for another mini-coaching session on How She Did That! Today’s question was submitted by Jen Dys. Jen is a Pinterest Strategist and founder of Level Up Business Creative. She works with a variety of clients including e-commerce, brand strategy, coaching, and course creation.

Jen submitted her question after running into a very interesting roadblock. She wanted to know which direction she should scale her business towards. Should she build an agency or creating a group program or digital product? Both directions are incredibly promising for her career, but she’s just not sure which path to take. Our host, Tasha Booth, has an impressive answer, and it’s a lot easier than you might think.

    We talk about:

    • The difference between Market Need and Gut Need
    • The best timeline for a growth project
    • How to build off of the community you already have
    • How to take back a few hours to get into CEO Mode

Are you looking for growth, guidance, and most importantly, time? Are you an online business owner looking to expand but you don’t know where to start?

Look no further! You’d be perfect for the Agency Thrivemind Program! It’s a 12-month program for established Done-For-You Service Providers looking to grow and scale a thriving agency. This is the program you’ve been waiting for!

  • Mini Coaching Session: How Do I Network More Intentionally Without Traveling?

Networking on its own can be daunting, but networking as a new business owner while quarantining??? That’s a whole ‘nother ball game.

That said, your community is going to be a huge part of your business. And since you’re a part of our community, we’re going to make sure we focus on what you are able to do. Whether it’s because of quarantine or otherwise, we're going to get you out there and into those (virtual) coffee chats!

In this week’s mini-coaching session, we spoke to Aldana Santarelli. Aldana is a legal translator turned virtual assistant and this week she asked, “How do I network more intentionally without traveling?”

    This Week We Talk About:

    • How to network when you can’t leave your house
    • Where to find new people to meet
    • How to approach your (hopefully) new Work Best Friend for a coffee chat

  • How She Handles the Messy Middle as a More Mature Business

The dynamic duo is back! Jayla Rae flew out to see me for a very important, and now quarterly, business planning meeting and we’re sharing how we plan for the future of our agency.

We found that meeting in person AT LEAST once a year has been a tremendous help when it comes to planning out our future. It can be hard to carry on a conversation about next year's revenue goals when we are answering pings in between Zoom calls and client commitments. And so, the In-Person Quarterly Meeting was born!

In this week’s episode of How She Did That, Jayla Rae and I reflect on our first quarterly In-Person Meeting, how it helped us, and what changes we’re bringing to the agency that you can incorporate into your own business.

    Here’s what we learned:

    • Make sure everyone on your team is on the same page
    • Have more intentional meetings with specific objectives
    • Make time to listen to the perspectives of your entire leadership team

  • Mini Coaching Session- How Do I Get Through the Messy Middle of my Business Growth Journey?

Ok, so we all know it’s coming, but when it’s here it sucks and we need to deal with it. There is always going to be this icky in-between phase where you know you want to start a new chapter in your life but you don’t know how to get there. In business, this in-between phase often happens when you’re getting ready to level up. The uncomfortable ick phase is your inner voice telling you it’s time to move on and move up.

Take Skyla Eichelberger for example, she was in the middle of an in-between phase too. She’s been known for her Virtual Assistant services and for the last few years, that’s been her reputation. She has her hand in a bunch of different pots and she knows how to do a little bit of everything. But lately, she’s been wanting to specialize and get into a niche she really enjoys, which is copywriting and content creation. And that’s great! But she wants to know… how does she do that?

In this week’s guest episode of How She Did That, Skyla Eichelberger asks how to get through the messy middle of her business growth journey. Transitioning can be difficult if you don’t know where to start, but the answer is actually really simple.

    This Week We Talk About:

    • What transitioning looks like in a business
    • How to find your niche in your current work
    • How to cater your transition to the niche you want to join
    • How to get the word out about your new packages

  • Mini Coaching Session- How Do I get Comfortable with Sales Conversations on Discovery Calls?

Today we’re going to talk about money. I know, it’s not a “polite conversation.” But we are women in business! We need to get paid for the amazing services we offer! To do that, we need to have a conversation about how we price our services and how we communicate that price with our clients. I know, it’s also scary, but it must be done.

Honestly, it’s about our mindset. A lot of people completely lose their confidence when talking about money. Take Amanda Acker’s case, for example, she said she would always kill it on onboarding calls up until the payment part of the conversation. Then, she completely froze. It just felt too uncomfortable and her clients knew that. Some of them even haggled her down to a price she wasn’t comfortable with but accepted anyway. Amanda wants to change that. She is no longer comfortable with leaving money on the table, and neither should you!

In this week’s guest episode of How She Did That, Amanda Acker joins me to talk about how to get comfortable with talking about money with your clients. It’s time to update our money mindset and get paid what we deserve!

    This Week We Talk About:

    • How to upgrade our money mindset
    • How to reach out to your colleagues to talk about money
    • When and where to negotiate
    • How to work with your Kolby 8 personality results instead of working against them
