How To Ask For Flexibility At Work

Before asking make sure:

  1. Your performance is meeting expectations
  2. Your leader trusts you to do your work
  3. Know what you want / need

    4. Flexibility could be:

    • Hours
    • Days
    • Working from home
    • Shifting focus
    • Shifting workloads
    • Work from family member's home
    • Adjusting goals
    • Changing expectations

      • Asking your leader for flexibility:

      1. Let them know what you're looking for
      2. Let them know why you're looking for it
      3. Assure them your quality / quantity of work will not decrease
      4. Assure them your work is high priority
      5. Offer to set up check-ins each week
      6. Let them know how it will help and the benefits
      7. Lay out the structure you're set up so they know you'll be successful
