There was a time when I couldn’t even step outside without feeling like I might collapse. 

My nervous system was so fried, it felt like my whole body was overheating — like a computer on the verge of burning out. I’d wake up after two hours of sleep to another panic attack. Breathless. Nauseous. Certain I was dying.

I googled symptoms obsessively. I took Paxil, Klonopin, Trazodone. I saw dietitians, tried acupuncture, meditated, even tried to sneak away to Costa Rica for a two-week water fast — because the internet told me that might fix me.

But nothing worked. At best, these were band-aids. At worst, they fed the fear.

What finally helped wasn’t another treatment. It was a shift — from trying to fix the fear, to understanding it. From resisting my symptoms, to feeling safe enough to let them be there.
