The number one way to build self confidence, is to follow through on the commitments you make to yourself.

The thing is, we generally make BIG commitments, like:

• I'm going to start this workout program and not miss a day, its 60 minutes a day for 60 days.
• I'm doing my diet for real this time. No more sugar, carbs, junk food, alcohol, etc.
• I am going to build this side hustle into something great so that I can leave my full time job

Etc.

Etc.

But, then, when things get hard, because it is too much pressure or too much of a departure from your normal life, you give up. And, when you give up consistently over time, you hemorrhage trust with yourself. You learn that you can't count on you. You learn that you are ok with disappointing yourself, as long as you're not disappointing others.

In todays episode I walk you through how to start building that trust back… with micro goals. Things that don't require a TON from you, but require just enough to build that mind management and stay committed to your goal. Things that, as you do them, you learn you actually CAN do hard things, just not all at once.

Through my years as a life coach, and in doing my own self coaching, I've learned that we all have, what I like to call, Default Operating Systems. Meaning thought patterns that our brains tend to think after years of practicing those beliefs.

What we're doing here is trying to uncover what those thought patterns are, and then, create new programming for our brains. Thoughts that ultimately will feel better and be more efficient for us, but initially feel really hard and challenging to use.

A lot of what we do here and what I teach is to focus on our thinking, because our thoughts truly create our reality. It is crucial that we understand this- because right now we're blaming our life on the facts and circumstances and people around us.

But, today I want to teach you an evolved concept. One where we take your painful thought and instead of trying to thought swap to get to a better feeling, we make your painful thought a fact, and then decide how we want to feel about that.

This is especially helpful when you're dealing with a diagnosis, a tragedy, a schedule that is out of your control, mental health issues, etc.

In today's episode, I walk you through what this process looks like and how you can use it in your life to grant yourself peace even in the midst of pain.

Nothing has gone wrong. This too shall pass. And it doesn't have to be the best time for it to still be worth your time. Sometimes life is hard and we can do hard things!

Episode 49: A Pause for Jane

My husband's mom died on Saturday, and nothing has felt right since. I will do another episode on managing though and processing grief at some point, but today I just want to share with you something that has helped me in past times of grief, and I hope that it also brings you some amount of comfort, even if tiny, as you wade through the wreckage of saying a final goodbye to a loved one.

Thank you for tuning in. This week, my ask of you is to call your parents, or book the trip, or plan the dinner. I know it's cliche, but these people are so precious, and tomorrow isn't guaranteed.

As women, we're not taught or encouraged to support our bodies incredible hormone cycles… but thats where Jacqueline from The Menstrual Mogul comes in. I lost a soulmate of mine over a few misunderstandings and miscommunications… I have a friend who is currently in the midst of dealing with some misunderstandings in a very important relationship in her life, and I have clients who we are actively working on healing their thoughts about significant relationships in their lives that are happening as a result of misunderstandings.

In todays episode, I share how these misunderstandings manifested in my life and my relationships, which led to that friendship ending… and how I have shifted my thinking so that I can feel better, love harder, and give the benefit of the doubt to those I care about.

The Body Positive Community was a saving grace for me for several years. It helped me find peace and freedom and hope in moving away from being diet addicted and body obsessed. But, it also became another space where there were rules to follow and right and wrong ways to be body positive.

Following the body positive "rules" blindly felt good, until they didn't. I had to do some work around what being body positive meant to me. And how could I be body positive and *still* want to lose weight. This exact discussion came up in one of my 1:1 sessions this week, so this week I'm bringing it to you.

Inside this episode I teach you how to shift things around in your brains so the even if you're someone who wants to lose weight, you can still do it from a place of gratitude and respect, even if the body positive police disagree.

I am just coming off one of the most transformative weekends of my life. It was a highlight that I will never forget. As I was thinking about what made it so magical and unforgettable, I came up with a list of things I learned, or that were reaffirmed for me about life in general. In life, pain is inevitable. But suffering is always optional. Of course it doesn't always feel that way. When we're in pain and suffering it can often feel like we have no choice. But we do. We always do.

Sometimes pain is appropriate. Grief is appropriate. Sadness is appropriate. But suffering truly has no upside.

In todays episode, I bring you part of a live coaching call I did with one of my clients who was diagnosed with a chronic illness. She feels as though so much of her life is out of her hands, and that much of the future she had planned for herself is no longer an option. And while those things may be true, it is the resistance of them, the "things shouldn't be this way" thinking, the "this isn't fair" thinking that is added to her pain.

Join us as I help her move from suffering, back into pain, and ultimately into peace- with the pain and without. I hope you can see part of yourself in her story and find a way to grant yourself more peace in the face of pain.
