So, this week, while Jac is roaming with the cows in no-wifi land, board certified FNP Vanna Padilla hops on the mic to talk all things dermatology and aesthetics. The two start by addressing the difference between derm and aesthetics, and Vanna then talks about what her patient population looks like, and how she found her way into derm after going to school to be an FNP. They also challenge the notion that this career is all “pretty and fun” as they discuss all the things that could go wrong in addition to the physical health benefits that can come from aesthetic procedures. They dive into the unique patient-provider relationship, and how it is important to them to speak up if something is not in a patient’s best interest. They also get into different curriculum requirements for different routes within the field, Vanna’s favorite thing to treat in office, and the importance of holistic approaches to patient care.
