It’s the first episode of 2025—get excited, y’all!

Today, we’re focusing on entering the new year while still navigating the challenges and emotions of grief, because they didn’t miraculously go away at the strike of midnight on December 31st, right?

This chat centers on the difficulties us grievers face day in and day out, but especially when approaching a new year without a loved one. And, the significance of holidays, anniversaries, and milestones we now have to face as we enter this new year.

I’m offering up practical advice and guidance on coping strategies, planning ahead, how to approach this new year and those big (and small) painful moments, releasing expectations, and balancing grief with moments of joy. I’m also super excited to share some listener responses about how they’ve honored their loved ones and navigated their “firsts” without them.

Are you ready for some BEAUTIFUL and powerful messages from the angels today?!

I’m doing something I’ve never done on the podcast before—pulling and reading angel cards and giving a message to three wonderful Life With Grief Podcast listeners, plus one card for all of the podcast listeners as a collective. Trust me, these are messages you will want to hear today!

Let me introduce you to the Angels and Auras Oracle Card deck by Radleigh Valentine and Dougall Fraser. This deck has been such a fun and wonderful addition to my morning practice, and I’m so excited to share this angel card session you.

I start off by quickly explaining how I do this practice and utilize this card deck for guidance and messages, then dig into giving messages for our three listeners! I’ll  give detailed insights and interpretations of the messages I received—focusing on inspiration and positivity for the year ahead.

Let’s talk about the complexities and nuances of social media and grief.

Particularly during the ever-emotionally charged holiday season, social media can be both a place of inspiration, comfort, and support, but also a place where we can run into imposter syndrome, comparison, isolation, and a whole lot of emotional triggers.

We’ll talk about how social media can both support and negatively effect our grieving process. My goal is to offer you practical tips on setting boundaries, curating your feed, engaging intentionally, and knowing when to leverage social media as a tool for healing versus hinderance.

I wasn’t planning on doing this episode this year, but frankly, I’m feeling griefy… so here we are!

The more I reflect on it being five years since my mom died, the more I realized how much my grief has truly changed in that time, how the loss of my mom was affected me short and long term, and why I’m more convinced than ever there is NO timeline on grief… and I’m spilling on why. 

I’m getting REALLY raw and real here as I share the thoughts and feelings I have as I approach my mom’s “angel day”. In this episode I reflect on how my grief has evolved over the years, particularly with the arrival of my daughter this year--which has been the greatest gift, but has certainly complicated that. 

Today is all about validating the myriad of emotions felt by those of us who are grieving, and how time alone truly doesn’t “heal”. I also dig into navigating this during the holiday season, especially if you’ve lost someone around this time of year, too.

Finally, we’ll chat about not adhering to a timeline or feeling pressure to move on as we acknowledge the enduring impact of grief and loss.

Chelsea Ohlemiller is a wife and mother of three, a grief educator, and author who writes to encourage and comfort those who are grieving.

Her mother passed away suddenly in 2017 at the age of 57 from cancer, and it was after her mom’s death that she suddenly felt the urge to write and make her proud. Now, she uses her story to help others along in the grieving experience.

In this episode Chelsea shares her deeply touching story, but this conversation also spans across various aspects of grief like the evolution of grief over time, the importance of finding joy and how to do this, and coping mechanisms that I know will help and inspire you. She also shares her journey of transforming grief into creativity through her platform, "Happiness, Hope, and Harsh Realities" and her book, "Now That She's Gone."

In this very validating episode you’ll get some tangible, realistic advice, guidance on navigating grief, particularly around the holidays!

Day 4 of the 5 days of holiday grief is here!Today we’re digging into re-imagining the holidays after we go through a loss, and talking about how to even begin moving forward—which I know can feel so impossible sometimes.The holidays, an anniversary, a birthday, or any other day that holds special meaning can feel like everyone around you is celebrating or going about their normal life.
