One of the biggest struggles we may have to navigate as we’re grieving is insomnia and poor sleep, so let’s talk about it! In this episode, we’re digging into biological impacts of stress and grief on sleep, highlighting the importance of natural sleep solutions, and even zeitgebers. Today’s guest is such a force of nature and an inspirational voice in the grief space—I’m truly so excited to share this episode with you all today because if you know her content even just from social media or in her books, you know how vulnerable and honest she is which we always need more of when we’re coping with grief.Whitney Lyn Allen is first and foremost mama to her sons, Jackson (6) and Leo (2). She practiced law as a medical malpractice defense attorney for ten years before her husband had a severe reaction to a bee sting and sustained a severe brain injury, subsequently resulting in his death.Whitney decided to turn her pain into purpose and followed her new calling to serve others who are also experiencing grief and trauma and share her vulnerable and personal grief journey with others.She is the author of “Running in Trauma Stilettos,” which is an Amazon Best Seller, and also just released another book called “what must be carried”.Whitney is also a certified grief educator and provides grief coaching to those who are ready for their own transformation and growth after loss. She shares the empowering message that there is so much beauty in life, even after losing a loved one.This is an ideology that I am just so aligned with and speaks to everything I do at losses become gains and here on the podcast, and I’m truly so honored to share Whitney’s story and uplifting perspective with you here.

Welcome to the Life With Grief Podcast! 

Here we talk about and normalize the complexities of grief, how to navigate life after loss, and so much more. I'm here to remind you that grief isn't a journey with a destination. 

It's as unique as you are, and it's all about giving it the time, attention, and love it deserves. I want you to think of this podcast as a safe space where I'm a friendly face and you can drop in, relax with your favorite beverage and feel seen, heard, and supported.

We’re all here and in this together just trying to figure out how to live life with our grief in tow. I'm your host, Tara Accardo. I'm a Grief and Soul Purpose Coach and fellow griever, just like you!

I lost both of my parents to cancer within six months of each other, followed by my 19-year-old fur baby less than a year later. I also went through a very traumatic birth experience in 2024 with our daughter, Audrey. My grieving experience continues, but since they died, I can confidently say I’ve unlocked so many coping tools, methods for healing, and ways to navigate life with loss. 

Now, I want to share all of that and more with you so you can do the same. Through a mixture of solo and amazing guest episodes, I’m here to serve you guidance and support as a coach, action-based coping tools, inspiration, and some laughs along the way to help you cultivate a more meaningful, intentional, and beautiful life.
