Have you wondered what the Love and Support Calls are all about? Here's your chance to listen in to the beginning of one.
Today's podcast is the recording of the first 12-15 minutes of the most recent Love and Support call. Hear about some struggles Heidi has been going through with her move and how she improved her situation through journaling.
To WATCH the July Love and Support call, go here and click on the free access button. This may be the only time we add the Love and Support call to the podcast or it may become a regular thing...we haven't decided yet!

08:22 The seven things that needed to change
09:40 Caveat: Don't feel guilty if you can't journal today...try to do it sometime though.
10:10 Recognizing the current reality and that it will change, but this is it for now
11:19 Go a little deeper and ask why? And what do I want to do about it.
Take Aways
-Really the stress comes from the energy that we are going at it with.
-"I recognize I'm feeling sorry for myself and overwhelmed to the point that I don't want to do anything. And I want to do something about it." That's a good indicator journaling may be helpful now. Waiting until you want to do something about it will likely make the outcomes better.
-There were only seven things that if Heidi had a magic wand would be different. Those seven things would bring her enough peace and confidence to face everything with hope.
-Write and post the main insight you have from journaling in places where you'll see it often.

Today we explore some better ways to complain (so it doesn't end up everywhere!) and Heidi details her recent move experience that led to LOTS of desire to complain. Heidi then applies the Model to her situation and shows how it made the whole experience better.
Take aways
Better ways to complain:
1. Choose one person to complain to
2. Choose one person to complain to about this. Another person you complain to about a different topic. Another about something else, etc.
3. Stop complaining to someone if it seems to be the foundation of the friendship or they can't stop talking about your issue.
4. Complain through prayer/talking to God
5. Complain through writing, journaling, and letter writing (that you don't give)

Does it feel like complaining is helpful? While it can feel productive, Heidi argues that it doesn't lead us to the results we want.
Take aways
*Sometimes we complain because we are trying to make things better. But it doesn't work.
*Even if we get what will satisfy the complaint, we don't feel better.
*Venting is not always a good thing.
*Feel emotion rather than skipping over it or avoiding it.
*Your body is very able to take care of anger if you allow it to.

04:04 We don't complain when we are satisfied or feeling happy
05:29 Complaining can be a habit

Get a glimpse of some jobs and roles (i.e. daughter, aunt) that Heidi had as a teenager and in her early twenties. What made them harder or easier to handle because of her having PMDD? What was good about them? What was difficult about them? Heidi adds some recommendations along the way.
Take Aways
-Heidi found being a college student easier than being a high school student.
-Before serving as a full-time missionary, figure out ways to handle your difficult days of the month. Practice them. Heidi didn't know she had PMDD at the time she served... she believes knowing would have helped.
-Recognizing when your PMDD symptoms are active may help reduce stress, frustration, and disagreements.
-Doing work that includes both mind and body helped Heidi reduce the amount of negative thinking about herself.
-Having some social interaction when desired (but not expected) was a happy medium for Heidi.
