At the end of the year I like to spend time to prepare for what’s next, and the thing I find most helpful when you’re thinking about the future is to look back at the past. Reflecting on 2024 can help you create a plan for 2025, week by week and month by month. Once you have your goals and your main events scheduled, the rest falls in to place.

You don’t need my permission, but I’ll give it to you anyways: you’re allowed to run your business however the hell you want. There are so many snake-oil salesmen out there telling you the “right” way to run your business, but the real “right” way is just doing what you like doing, in a way that aligns with your values. You don’t have to kill yourself just to win the game—you can opt out of any game entirely. Just do what *you* want to do.

Happiness is both a practice and a choice. Once upon a time I was asked what I do to avoid bad days and ultimately, it boils down to the fact that I make choices that allow for myself to see and experience the things that bring joy as much as possible. If something goes wrong in one place, I can always find what I’m looking for in another. We know that for financial stability, we need to diversify our investment portfolio, so why not diversify your joy portfolio while you’re at it?

It’s been a few weeks since the US general election and I wanted to take an episode to organize and share my thoughts about everything going on. The outcome of the election, though unsurprising, was disheartening. I don’t except any politician to come save me, but when the side built on hate and ignorance wins, it’s hard not feel frustrated, angry, and ultimately apathy. But when so much is at stake, we can’t afford to be apathetic. Y’all know I’m all about taking action in business, but it applies to life and politics, too. We took a moment to feel all the feelings, and now we get to work.

Feeling guilty about your success happens to all of us. I LOVE my life, but sometimes I feel so guilty that I get to live the way I do while others can’t. But stopping myself from having these good things doesn’t help anyone, doesn’t bring anyone closer to their own goals. Far MOAR good comes from enjoying yourself and using your privilege to inspire others. Caring about it allows you to fight for it, for the people who want it, too.
