  • #145: Why Love Can Destroy Marriage – Rabbi Manis Friendman

It would seem that love would be the foundation of a strong relationship. In this controversial podcast Rabbi Manis Friendman talks about how love can actually destroy a marriage and why people are having less sex than ever. He also talks about how a couple can create true connection and bonding.

Love is something most of us seek for our whole lives, with our whole beings.

Love seems like an answer, a solution, a destination.

And yet so many couples end up unhappy, frustrated and lonely, even while in a relationship!

Too often, love fades, fizzles or falls apart.

What if the way we think about love and the way we interact in relationships makes them more likely to fall apart than succeed?

What if the way we relate to love actually gets in the way of a real connection?

Today’s podcast with Rabbi Manis Friedman is fascinating. He talks about intimacy in a way I’ve rarely heard anyone talk about it.

In this conversation we discussed some controversial topics like:

    * How love can actually destroy marriage!* Whether sex is a need or desire* Why people often feel alone these days, even in a relationship* What allows a couple to create a true bond and real connection* Why couples are having less and less sex and how to shift this dynamic

When you’re done with this one you can listen to  How to Stop Love From Fading or Falling Apart, with author and teacher Guy Finley. In this conversation Guy blew me away with how to create a relationship with deep love, respect and growth!

Have you ever had the experience of a woman NOT trusting you, or losing trust in you?

It can be hard to stay open in the face of a woman’s response — anything from coldness or distance to exploding or expressing rage!

And while at times you may have been clear that your actions broke trust, at other times you may have been confused about what happened.

As dark as it may get, there are ways to rebuild trust (even if you aren’t clear what broke it in the first place).

Today’s Man Alive Podcast guest, Ashlynn Mitchell, coach and co-host of The Betrayed The Addicted and The Expert podcast, joined me to give her personal experience of what it took to rebuild trust in her relationship after a betrayal.

    We discussed:

    * The most powerful ways to repair a relationship when trust is broken* “Rules of Engagement” that make a relationship more intimate and inspiring* The foundation of being able to truly connect with your partner* How listening, for real, allows a woman to trust you again* Ashynn’s vulnerable truth about what it’s like to be a woman who wants to trust again but doesn’t know how

Building trust with women can be different from building trust with men. I highly recommend listening to this episode if trust is something you’ve struggled with in your relationships!

  • #142: Why You Should Take a Break from Sex – Rob Kowalski

Have you ever thought about how sex could be skewing your ability to make a clear decision about whether someone is the right romantic partner for you? Today’s guest has many reasons why delaying sex will help you know who is a great partner AND allow you to further your purpose and accomplishments in the world!

Right now, as the world seems to be coming apart at its seems, it’s a powerful time to take stock of your choices. When you consider your actions while also taking a deeper look at what drives you and what’s most important to you, you may make some different decisions!

For example, sex is a powerful energy!

Napoleon Hill, author of Think and Grow Rich, said: “The mere possession of sex energy itself is not sufficient to produce genius. The energy must be transmuted from desire for merely physical contact, into some other form of desire and action before it will lift one to the status of a genius.”

I’m not saying we all need to be geniuses, but what if seeking to have, and having sex, has blocked your capacity to further your purpose, create a positive impact, or find a relationship that will last?My guest on today’s Man Alive podcast, Rob Kowalski is the author of Why Waiting Works: How Fast Sex Prevents Us From Finding True Love and Long-Term Happiness. He has found that sex can “muddy the mind and heart!”

I thought it would be beneficial for you to hear what Rob has to say since he has some interesting points about what could make or break you having the lasting connection and love you want.

    We discussed:

    * How focusing on and having sex can keep you from having impactful work and important relationship discussions* The Sex Trap — how you can get stuck in it and how to get out of it* The path to transmuting sexual energy into purposeful and creative energy* The benefits of abstinence for your life and relationships* Rob’s “complete 180” from having lots of sexual partners to seeing the trap he was caught in

If you’ve already chosen a long-term partner you can listen to this episode and consider whether taking a break from sex could allow other aspects of your connection to deepen and true up.

If you’re in a relationship and not having the sex you want, check out last week’s episode: The Unexamined Reasons Sex and Intimacy Fades.

  • The Unexamined Reasons Sex and Intimacy Fade – Shana James

It is common that sex and intimacy changes after a “honeymoon period,” often decreasing in passion or consistency. There are some unexamined relationship dynamics that can surprisingly reignite sensuality. This episode lays them out for you.

I am relaunching this episode because in times of stress, affection and connection are often pushed aside :(.

During this challenging time a healthy sex life would be a great relief but when survival instincts kick in, women especially turn their focus to the tasks at hand. They may lean away from emotional and sensual contact.

What I’ve seen with my clients is that a WAY more satisfying sex life is possible than they realized.  And it’s not about always having to be happy or turned on!

During a pandemic, or other stressful times, your intimacy can deepen. Sex can become richer and more meaningful!

While I don’t believe passion, intimacy and sex inevitably fades over time, it’s important to remember you’ll have phases and turning points in your sexual relationship. This doesn’t mean you have to settle for less connection or intimacy than you want.

In this solo Man Alive episode I share a few unexamined relationship dynamics I’ve discovered over the past 15 years of coaching men that surprisingly reignite sensuality. You’ll learn…

    * What makes sex hotter and more satisfying, as the years (or even decades) go on* How and when to have conversations about sex with a partner to increase the likelihood that they are well received* What women tell me they long for from, and with, men * Increasing pleasure for you and your partner by letting go of orgasm as the “end goal”* Practices that shake up your love life and deepen connection

Once you listen, check out next week’s Master class to support you: 3 Ways to Reignite Affection and Attraction During Stressful Times

I’ll give you the tools and understanding you need to help your partner open to affection and sensuality. Sign up this week to get the early bird discount!
