  • #141: What Great Sales People Do – Ben Zoldan

We are at a time in the world where great people are needed more than ever. What if you didn’t have to separate work from your life visions? What if you didn’t have to give up your mission, creativity, values or ability to have a positive impact, to become more successful? Today’s guest shows you how you can do this!

Have you had a job where it seemed necessary to leave some of your humanity at home?

Have you ever given up your mission, creativity or values because doing so made you more successful?

Or have you gone along with a company culture, even if it was cutthroat or isolating, because it got you higher up the corporate ladder?

Many men tell me the pressure to succeed is immense and has sadly cost them relationships, health, happiness and more.

Today’s Man Alive podcast is with Ben Zoldan, co-founder of Storyleaders, an organization that brings humanity and connection into the culture of business.

Our conversation is about how you can succeed in the world without letting go of your mission, humanity or ability to have a positive impact! Ben generously shares painful stories from his life as well as his own and client success stories to give you a sense of how you too can be free to bring more of you to your work and your relationships.

    In this conversation we discussed:

    * How to feel more freedom in the face of risk — wisdom from a special forces agent * The perspective that makes it easier to act when you’re afraid of losing respect from colleagues and family * What it looks like to integrate your mission into your work – to be effective AND do good!* The power of leaning into vulnerability to forward your vision* How a woman saved the lives of hundreds of people and why that matters for your success and well-being

I attended one of Ben’s workshops years ago and was deeply touched by the depth of humanity and vulnerability that accompanied powerful sales training.

I highly recommend checking out Ben’s trainings if sales is part of your work or if you’re looking to create a more connected culture in your office.

Ben’s path started in B2B Sales over twenty years ago. He moved through senior sales leadership roles to where he found his sweet spot in sales enablement.

Having always wandered outside of the mainstream, in 2008 Ben began an accidental research project to see what else was out there. After several years it finally became clear that his current sales models were inadequate. They hadn’t harnessed what the most influential people were doing. Ben’s research took him into fields way outside his own world, and he applied myself in areas that were examining the human experience much deeper than they were in the sales enablement industry. He became fascinated with disciplines such as neuroscience, biology, evolutionary science, and while studying,

Have you ever felt shame or doubt about your “performance” in bed, or your ability to give a woman pleasure?

    If so, today’s podcast is a must-listen!

Shame and self-doubt can keep spark and passion from igniting.

They can kill spark suddenly and surprisingly.

And they can creep in slowly over time, making sex that was once hot and exciting turn dull and disconnected.

From speaking to thousands of men, I know that many men experience only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the pleasure and intimacy that’s possible in the bedroom.

I wish it wasn’t this way. And believe me, so do the women I talk to!

They want you to feel great about yourself so you can be more connected and available for ALL the passion and play that is possible.

Coaching men for more than 15 years has shown me that YOU can have an amazing sex life, even if that’s not how it is right now!

Today’s Man Alive podcast guest, Karen Brody, agrees! She is one of my favorite men’s coaches. She is also the author of Open Her: Activate 7 Masculine Powers to Arouse Your Woman’s Love & Desire. And she has a new TEDx talk: Re-imagining Masculinity.

In today’s conversation we talk about:

    * How your sexual relationships are harmed and shaped by shame* What a shame-free emotional and sexual connection looks and feels like* How to understand a woman’s negative reactions to sex and inspire positive ones* What naturally evokes more depth, play and sensuality from a woman* The path to letting go of the parts of you that perform and are afraid of rejection

When two women who love men get together to support you to have more and better love, connection and sex, you don’t want to miss it!

When you’re done listening to this one, check out my first Man Alive podcast episode with Karen: How to Transform a Sexless Relationship. You’ll love this one too!

In this time of massive change, it’s not always easy to know which end is up.

What used to seem certain may now feel uncertain.

The bottom can drop out multiple times in a day.

We don’t know what the new normal will be like.

And there is a lot of pain, loss and devastation.

That said, at times like this, even in the midst of grief and letting go, we can find unexpected insight and clarity.

With comforts and crutches removed and the threat of illness, or even death, nearby, I’ve started wondering what is important to me.

Today’s Man Alive podcast guest considers this as part of wealth.

From her perspective wealth is not just about finances but about what adds value to life and makes it feel worth living.

Emerald GreenForest is a coach, the author of eight books and a contributor to 15 more. She helps people create a wealthy life by design

In our conversation we talked about:

    * The 5 components of wealth* Why gaining wealth depends on understanding wealth vs. abundance* 5 ways you may be repelling wealth right now* How to start proactively welcoming wealth into your life and bank account* Emerald’s perspectives and tools for keeping wealth once you have it (since there are no guarantees)

  • #138: Inspire Lust, Trust, and Devotion From a Strong Woman – GS Youngblood

Strong women are passionate and exciting, but they come with a specific challenge. Men often wonder how to get a strong woman to be more affectionate, soft and sensual! Today’s guest will show you what to do when a strong woman pushes you away, so she’ll want to open up and be close with you!

Have you ever dated a strong woman, or are you in relationship with one now?

Men often tell me they are drawn to strong women because they are inspiring and full of energy.

But men have also been confused about how to relate and communicate with a woman who is clear about her desires, stands up for herself, is focused on her goals…a powerful woman!!

A powerful woman does NOT have to make you feel less powerful!

Strong women are focused on getting things done, taking care of others, contributing to the world. But they also want to relax and let go.

While this type of woman may not show her soft, affectionate parts on the surface, she has them.

She has the one who gets sh*t done and the one who wants to surrender.

When you understand what helps women relax, they can shift their attention to being connected with you!

The sad thing is we’ve lost a lot of the wisdom about what helps women relax and feel safe. This has left many men feeling frustrated and even helpless, with women who don’t seem available.

Today’s Man Alive podcast conversation with GS Youngblood can change all of that.

GS has been a student and creator in the field of men’s work for 10 years. He brings together principles from a variety of fields including psychology, martial arts, tango, meditation and BDSM.

In our conversation we talked about:

    * The challenges men face with strong women* Why men with strong women often hold back in the bedroom and how they can learn to lead* How a man can express anger, shame and hurt without being mean or childish* The signs of a man who is not stepping up in his relationship* How a man can set boundaries in a way that actually makes his woman relax

GS shares, at the beginning of the podcast, that he was a client of mine a decade ago! I highly recommend checking out the wisdom he gained through both his trainings and romantic relationships with strong women!

When you’re done with this one check out another podcast on creating more spark and attraction: How to Get Sexual Consent Without Ruining Attraction, with Michael Ellsberg.

  • #137: High Performance Teams Are “All in This Together” – Mike Robbins

Take a second to think of something that frustrates or upsets you at work.

    Got it?

Okay, I’m willing to be wrong, but my guess is that you thought of something to do with people, rather than the content of your work.

If you did think of content, I imagine you could easily think of frustrating situations with co-workers, a boss, clients, etc.

Human dynamics tend to be the most challenging aspects of the work we do and are often one of the roots causes when a company goes out of business or a project flops.

On today’s Man Alive podcast I was joined by Mike Robbins, an author and speaker who has spent 20 years speaking all over the world, at well known companies like Google, Wells Fargo, Microsoft, Gap, eBay, Schwab.

Mike’s new book, “We’re All in This Together: Creating a Team Culture of High Performance, Trust and Belonging, came out this week!

The timing is uncanny because Mike came up with his title years before this pandemic. His book highlights what is necessary now, more than ever, in business and our lives.

In our conversation we talked about:

    * The core pillars of creating high performing teams* What psychological safety is and why it’s been deemed the most important factor in team success* Why vulnerability is crucial for innovation and effectiveness in business* The need for leaders to pay attention to inclusion and belonging * Mike’s learnings from his background in sports and working with some of the most successful companies in the world

When you’re done with this episode, check out Mike’s first Man Alive episode about how to be more successful by being honest. Then check out his books!

Mike is an example of a strong and caring leader, willing to let go of looking good or keeping up a facade. He understands that is important to bring our humanity to business.
