We saw wheat move it's way higher on Wednesday as the U.S. dollar took a breather and broke off of its highs. More rhetoric from Vladimir Putin about ratcheting up Russia's war efforts in Ukraine and energy concerns in Europe are other factors that supported wheat on the day. Corn and soybeans were quietly higher on the day while livestock were under pressure. Mike Zuzolo of Global Commodity Analytics joins us to discuss the markets. We saw a mostly "risk-on" type day in the grain trade on Tuesday although it was a bit of a see-saw type trade. The U.S. dollar started lower allowing all commodities to move higher but then as the dollar came off it's lows, that put pressure back on the trade. Markets are mostly feeling the outside pressure once again to start the week with grains, oilseeds, energies and stocks mostly lower at midday. Cattle are holidng slight gains while hogs are under pressure. Arlan Suderman, Chief Commodities Economist at StoneX joins us to discuss the trade action.
It was a large "risk off" day on Friday with grains, livestock, energies and the stock market all under heavy pressure. Is this the sign of a broader, long term correction in the markets as whole?
