Grain markets have bounced around quite a bit on Wednesday's session as traders await the Fed announcement and watch more headlines coming out of Russia. Livestock are fairly quiet and so is the stock market. Arlan Suderman of StoneX joins us to discuss the market trade action.
Wheat shot higher on Tuesday amid rising tensions between Russia and Ukraine. Corn and soybeans were pulled higher by the wheat market as it was a "risk-on" day across the grains and oilseeds. Livestock trade was choppy on the day Tuesday. The broader markets are waiting on the presumed latest interest rate hike from the Federal Reserve on Wednesday. Jim McCormick of AgMarket.net joins us to discuss the market trade action.
Wheat is leading the grains and oilseeds higher near midday on Tuesday as tensions rise again in the Black Sea region. Corn and soybeans are following along to the upside while the livestock trade is realtively choppy and firm near midday. Arlan Suderman, Chief Commodities Economist at StoneX, joins us to discuss the market trade action.
On Monday, we saw the wheat markets find a lot of selling pressure while soybeans were supported by strength in soymeal. Corn, largely caught in the middle, is seeing typical harvest pressure in the market right now. Corn did finish mostly slightly higher in a nice move off of it's lows on the day. Funds were sellers of wheat and corn and net buyers of soybeans and meal. John Heinberg of Total Farm Marketing joins us to discuss the market action and the backdrop of this week's Fed meeting on the markets.
We also are joined by Eric Snodgrass of Nutrien to take a look at the weather forecast for the week ahead. Could we see an early frost in the Northern Plains? How much heat will be seen across the plains and mid-south to start this week? What about Hurricane Fiona in the Atlantic Ocean? Eric has the latest for us today. As we work towards the end of the week we have a few things to look at in the market trade. Economic concerns, new comments from Russian President Putin about the Ukraine grain deal and more are all top of mind in the trade on Friday. Arlan Suderman of StoneX joins us to discuss.
Thursday's market action was relatively quiet and mostly lower as winter wheat found pressure. News of a deal to avoid a nationwide railroad strike early in the day seemed to breath a sigh of relief into the market trade but also gave wheat a chance to take some profit. Livestock reacted positively to the finally released USDA Weekly Export Sales data. We discuss the markets in segment three and four with Bryan Doherty of Total Farm Marketing. Before that in segment one, we get market analysis and commentary with Arlan Suderman of StoneX. And in segment two we discuss the 11th hour deal to avoid a nationwide railroad strike with Mike Steenhoek of the Soy Transportation Coalition.
Markets on Thursday seem to be reacting to the rail strike deal news as well as may be tired after a busy week of news. Wheat pressured lower while corn and soybeans are mixed to lower. We discuss the trade with Arlan Suderman, Chief Commodities Economist at StoneX.
