MEN ARE NOT IN COMPETITION WITH EACH OTHER FOR WOMEN
There is a lot of talk these days about HYPERGAMY among men.
The basic idea so many men have accepted regarding how women operate with men, how women select men is that women go for the top guys.
The top 5% of men, or the top 10% or 20% of men get all the women. The rest of the men are invisible to women. The rest of the men are bound to be losers in the man-woman game.
There is some data in dating apps that supports this hypothesis.
I would like to challenge it.
I don’t think women pick men be comparing them to other men. I don’t think women have any internal compass for only going for the ‘top’ guys.
I think a woman evaluates each man she encounters against her own system. She evaluates him according to how he lands in her system. She does not evaluate him in comparison to some other man.
For men to believe that all men are in competition with each other for women, and that only the top 20% of men are the victors in this game — this is a defeatist model. And it is an erroneous model.
