Impulse buys are simply one of the most distracting things you can do in business and in your life. It's most likely that the impulse buy isn't going to give you the outcome you were wanting to achieve, it's not going to feel like it's moving you forward. The chances of it being the right product or service at the time and the solution that you need are slim to none. When you do the homework and put your money into a strategic purchase your chances of being successful are exponentially greater than when you buy on impulse.
In the entrepreneurial world today there are tons of entrepreneurs who have created an image of success. They're putting their best day out there and selling you on themselves and the image of how they live and how incredible everything is. Everyone you see online is struggling with something, not one of them actually has the perfect life or perfect business because that doesn't exist. Billionaires don't become so by comparing themselves to others around them. Create a mantra for yourself, when you see someone's success say "that's inspirational but I'm going to compare myself to myself".
Most entrepreneurs fail to focus on growing their net worth. The number one responsibility of your business is to create a profit. The second responsibility of your business is to increase your net worth. Far too many of us have grown up feeling like we shouldn't talk about money and have a discomfort with money. Tracking and understanding net worth could be one of the biggest game changers in your life.
Once you've hired someone, how do you know that they're the right person? There's one filter I've always used and it's never let me down. Expect initiative & proactivity. When I hire a true believer I expect that that person will drive through anything they need to, contact who they need to contact, ask questions, do what they need to do and figure out how to get things done because I want them to show initiative and proactivity. That's how you build a world changing company and make your greatest contribution.
It's important to have a business that's built in a way that creates value, that makes it worth a high dollar value. What investors want to see is company documentation, they don't just want to know the end result, they want to know the road you took to get there. If you can't provide this documentation, it's any easy way for your business to lose value. Even if you've never considered selling, I want to show you how important having company documentation really is.
So many times as entrepreneurs, we hire people to lead certain parts of our business but we don't actually allow them to take the lead. We create fake leaders, and that's a certain way to have them fail. We want to understand everything that's happening along the way, we don't know how to pull back and let go. Here's a massive mind shift for you, the less you do, the more successful your company will be when it's up and running. Give your team members more responsibilities and they will be more invested in the outcomes.
There is a ton of information out there to teach you how to sell. The challenge is that there's not a lot of information and companies out there that teach you what type of product you should sell, products that will sell, how to develop products that will dominate your category and shut down the competition. That is the type of product I like to sell and what I am obsessed with developing. I don't want you to do well, or just do okay. I want you to create a product that changes people's lives.
There's a countless list of things you think you need to do to grow and scale a business, but I bring it down to two separate parts. Your unique deliverable & and your business infrastructure. You get to a point as an entrepreneur you feel like you don't have the time to do everything you need to do to grow the business. Are you there? Have you felt that? That's what every client of mine comes to me feeling. One of the most exciting things for me in my business is helping entrepreneurs and watching them evolve through the dichotomy of growth.
One of the single most important things you can do in your business to help it grow fast is to understand how important vocabulary and language is. Everyone on your team needs to be able to interpret exactly what you're saying in the same way. If you create proprietary language, everyone in the business knows with crystal clear accuracy exactly what's being talked about. When you reinforce consistent language in your company you remove ambiguity and build infrastructure faster.
